The smoke didn't come from me. I was taking a nap.

.Hey, Tom...I like the progress on your Monoprep.

The Instrument panel is coming along nicely.

Thanks, Earl.

I like to build IPs, and I felt like doing something fun while I'm trying to figure out how to build the cowl.

I'll check the poly today. Hopefully, the IP won't require any more coats, and I can move on to adding the instruments, etc.

Here's the IP. Since this model will be a flyer, I just wanted something to look the part. Nothing fancy. Not really scale.

Printed instruments were CA'd to a cut piece of roof flashing.
The fuel switch was made from plastic and a piece of flashing wrapped around a pin.
The red knob was taken from the end of a ball point pen.
The pull lever is a t-pin, painted red.

You need a better camera.

How about a close-up?

No. The photo is too small to see the detail which was mentioned but does not show.

Now you know why.

Let's just say that this isn't my best effort. It's good enough for what it is, but not anything more.

This one is "Close your eyes scale".

I have two chairs in my shop. One is for sitting. The other, for taking pictures.

This is an awesome build. And I've never built an instrument panel in my life...so yours is pretty amazing from where I'm sitting (in a chair for sitting).

Thanks, guys.

I did a poor job of cutting out the instruments. Then, the glue set up before they were properly positioned.

For me, not worth doing over, but certainly nothing to brag about, either.

Today, the Wonder Dog and I made a prototype cowl. I used the two parts that I posted the other day, placing them over the plans. 1/4" square linked them together, and the cowl was strip planked with 1/8" balsa.

A little sanding produced what you see, here.

Here's a panel that may interest you. Don built it for me, 20 years ago.
