Question
DJI F450 Build Questions ( T motors, Lipo's , Props )

I need to know what size the bullet connects are on my Tiger T MT-2212-13 980kv motors and what gauge are the wires ? ( it doesn't have it listed on the box or wire )

Will 3S 5000mah lipo's be ok to use on the DJI F450 ?

Also I bought 10" GRAUPNER E-Props , should I also get 8" props ?

Thanks

The bullets are most likely 3.5mm bullets, you'll find this size on most motors. Wire gauge... Probably 16awg or so, a very common size.

It'll fly with that battery, but it will be very sluggish. If you're going to use a very large battery, then it's better to pick a slightly smaller 4S lipo instead. It's OK to use 10" props on 4S as long as you stick to Graupner props. I personally think that 9" props is a great compromise if you want to use 4S. The motors won't run hot and you'll get a bit more lift than what you'd get from 8" props.

So I should get a 3S in what mah and 4S in what mah ?
Also 9" props is a good compromise when using either a 3 or 4 cell lipo ?

I'm new to this so I won't be doing any crazy flying but do want quality in my parts.

Thanks

That's up to you. Stick to 10" props when you use 3S.

Now, I've only used a 4000mah battery with the stock F450 DJI motors and it hovered for 18 minutes with the stock 10" props. But it felt sluggish. It flew, but I don't think it's usable with a big payload such as a gimbal + camera. GoPro? Not a problem. Do you really need 5000mah though? Depends on what you want to carry I suppose.

4S is more efficient, you'll most likely get longer runtimes and you can carry a LOT more. You'd probably be fine with say... a 3300 to 4000mah 4S lipo. Now, I have limited experience with such large batteries, so you'll have to wait for better replies or experiment a little. I would use 9" on 4S, but that's just me. 10" is usable too, the motors might run warm but I doubt they'll get hot.

EDIT: If this is your first multi you could just get a couple of cheapo 2200mah 3S Turnigy lipos to learn on. Also, don't learn on Graupner props, they can not take a direct hit well, they'll simply break apart when you hit something. Stick to ABS/nylon props until you're comfortable with your multi.

Thanks for your imput. I have 2 brand new 3S 5000mah lipo's never used from when I had my RC cars that's why I was asking about the use of them.
I'll only be using a GoPro camera no gimbal for awhile.

Thanks again.

In that case, just use those. They should work.

I have this exact setup, stock DJI with 9" Graupners e-props, its quite agile, stable, and with a 4S-2800mAh I get from 11 minutes (payload GoPro + some light FPV gear, tot. weight 1500g) to 14 minutes. (quad alone, no payload, 1100g).

It's also working fine with 8" Graupners. with these the motors are dead cold, and barely warm with 9", so I'd guess the 10" graupners are ok too, these props are pulling noticably less than the DJI 10".

You can see how it flies here with 9".
