Yet another idea

Of course my money is not involved, and ideas are a $0.10 a dozen.

But, my idea is, wouldn't it be cool if you could order a plane custom covered, using software to design your custom scheme, and that scheme would be cut and applied at the factory by the experts? Sure, there'd be a little lead time, but it would be cool.

Funny you should mention that because I know some folks who do precisely that.

They're MyRCDesigns.com in Henderson, Nevada. They have precut and predecorated Depron profilers and they also have software you can download to create your own patterns and designs.

Cool! They're great people and I had the privilege of reviewing a couple of their models over at The E Zone.

Cool idea!
Ive done exactly the same thing on a few of my builds, but it requires one to have an exact duplicate of the model in 3d to make it work .

With curved and concave surface the 3d model would have to be unwrapped, uv mapped, to get the required shapes, then the design process can be started in other software packages like coral draw, adobe illustrator, etc.... for cutting

An example.

what i wanted

The files in a 2d package

The masking

What i ended up with.

That is really cool, D_FAST. I like this:

Wouldn't it be cool if a plane MFG offered this with a simple software package that you could download from their site, with their planes already mapped?
