Help with old model plane MRC Cessna Cardinal II

This is an old RC Gas or Nitro? RC plane of my Grandfathers that he wants me to sell for him.

the engine is an Enya.

I do not know much about this plane and he is not sure when he bought but he bought it brand new.

It is an MRC Cessna Cardinal II with a Futaba Contoller and all the servos are futaba.

I have all the original manuals and stickers that came with it, the only things I do not have is the charger for the remote and the batteries.

My Grandpa said he only flew it once or twice and then put it away in the attic in his shop.

The wing span is about 4 feet.

It is in very good condition with no real damage to it at all. There are a few tiny nicks in the wood of the wing from being moved around and one very small hole in the body.

can you guys tell me about what year it is from? and about what you think it is worth?

Here are some pictures of it.

Red,

You're really in the wrong part of the forum this one is about vintage pattern flying, try Fuel Plane Talk instead you may have better luck there.

Oh sorry, I do not know much about rc planes, I thought this section was for vintage planes. I will post it in the correct section.

Well, it aint pattern, but it is a classic.

I remember those airplanes. And those radios. I cut my teeth on them. Good luck with it.

Nice model. I recall seeing it in magazines mid - late 70's.

Mrc

I had two of them! Bought them real cheap. They are equiped with Enya .35's. MRC was the importer for Enya back then. They were not trainers and flew pretty fast. The ARF's were well made, however, the fiberglass fuselages couldn't take much abuse. The Futaba radio that you have is well out of date. I doubt that it has been narrow-banded and the airborne pack looks, for what it is, been stored and I doubt it is worth much. The aircraft and the engine is worth something if the engine is not froze up.
Good luck with your efforts!

That plane brings back some memories. Around 1981 my neighbor had one and I would drool over it because I knew I could never afford one. He crashed it sometime later. The LHS also had one about 1983 and again, way too much for me but was fun to wish for. It just looked so clean and cool.

Fond memories of my Enya 45 and 60 in the early 80s. They had outstanding performance but were way under-rated.

The 45 had tons of power and the carb was reliable throughout all speed ranges. They should have been more popular is what I was referring to.
