the E-flite umx MiG 15 and "scale"
Scale flight has recently become more relevant to me, as i consider what i want while "collection building" vs".total flying experience". I'm more than ok with a model that exceeds the fullsize performance, so long as it can replicate it as well. With that in mind, I began to look at my Mig. Here's some numbers. I ,dont have all the specs I want, and if others are in-accurate, please chime in! I wiki-ed the fullsize, and went to the E-flite site for specs.
Full-size .
length: 10.1m, 33'2"
wingspan: 10.1m, 33'1"
loaded weight: 4960kg,10935lb
thrust: 26.5kN,5950lbft
power/weight ratio: 0.54
wing area: ?
wingloading: 240.8kg/m(sq),49.3lb/ft(sq)
max speed: 1075kmh,668mph
rate of climb: 50m/s,9840ft/min
model.
length: 402mm,15.9"
wingspan: 412mm,16.2"
weight(w/lipo): 77.5g,2.75oz
thrust: ?
power/weight ratio: ?
wing area: 3.45dm(sq),53.5"(sq)
wingloading: ? (19.45"(sq)/oz ? ..not sure bout that.)
max speed: ? (nitrocharged dopplared a 75.2kmh,47mph pass)
rate of climb: ?
as I said, i'm still looking for some key numbers. I'll update this as I come across them. Hope somebody finds this insightful. Any comments on the contrasts between the fullsize and the model would be appreciated!
