"GPS for HK KK2.0" project

I'm thinking of a (arduino based?) GPS module to connect between Rx and KK2 inputs. Is it doable?

Any skilled guy to help developing GPS board and Firmware for KK2 ?

From where should i start for such a nice feature ?

tks

I never saw this GPS unit connecting to any kk2 board (with lcd)
I believe it must be in the other boards and not THAT particular board...

I'm about to start to work on it.

Thinking to make two versions:
1 with 5883 magnetometer
1 without but less accurate

No baro, so alt-holding only via GPS altitude.
FrSky telemetry support

But I'm not thinking to make it open source

It is possible to connect the GPS to KK2.0 ... but it will need to rewrite most of the code ... so .. no point on it.

The feasible idea is:
Keep KK2.0 as it is.
Feed it via PPM from an external micro board that is connected to RX and to GPS ...

Simple and easy.

Main objective is enable basic missions, but mainly ... enable RTH

Good luck. It's lonely out there on your own.

Would be 19$ a fair price (price less GPS)

With GPS module 49$ ...

What you think ?

i prefer kk2.0 board at naza-M

dji naza-M have just a GPS system to make the difference... if kk2.0 board had a GPS system, DJi naza will be lost...

kk2.0 works better than naza without gps

For sure not.

You know ... if you get s MultiWii pro board, that cost 50 or 65 with gps ... you get already a superior system to KK2.0 ... and in some aspect even better then DJI

DJI, so far has the best GPS holding and navigation ... but many open source code are getting to this level .. so far in ideal quad and ideal configuration

Still .. my +/- 1m GPS hold ( in all 3 dimensions) via 65$ multiwii pro with gps ... is good enough.

Anyhow , back to KK 2.0 ... this is a ultra easy to set up and fly control board

Adding GPS ... make sense only for ultra easy configuration, and an approximate accuracy ... let say .. mainly for panic RTH situation ... in a sense .. GPS hold is more complicated or less effective then RTH to be add on KK2.0

In other words, without making a new board that control the KK2.0 board ... my idea is to have a simple board, connect to gps, with just a magnetometer on it ... this can do a decent job as RTH .. but it cant get anywhere near dji gps navigation

For get up tp dji navigation, the additional board connected to kk2.0 will need to be a replica of a full 10dof board ... unless .. HW chaanges on KK2.0 or firmware changes ... both approach that make no sense to me

At the moment I enjoying hacking navigation, on MultiWii 2.2 ... I may consider to try KK2.0 Return to Home rth on KK2.0 ...

I was more motivate on KK2.0 before I got the 3rd random behaviour from kk2.0 .. and on my last crash the kk2.0 lost 1 chip .. with the rest of the board totally un-hurt ... it did not get any impact on crash, but still a chip got desolder on his own ... so ... HW quality is not excellent ... and sometime strange things happen on KK2.0

So ... recent MultiWii 2.2 works spot on with default setting , as good or even better then KK2.0 ... a multiwii bord equivalent of kk2.0 ... cost 7$ shipped from eBay ... this is the killer board for me

i have a multiwii a naza-M, a freeflight and a kk5.5 blackboard

i had krashes with all board, cause firmwares fail or electronics fail...

no crashes with kk2.0 v1.5 → 1year crash safe.

same propellers since 6 month... last props since 1 year (and already clean and avaible to fly)... juste changing size and color

amazing kk2.0 bord

i fly over water many times and she never let me alone...

i have no RTH (of course) but i could always turnback home... many times with a default motor... when low battery, one motor stop on hexacopter and five motors run... i can fly with kk2.0 with one motor lost (not avaible for quadcopter of course )
