Bringing all your experience to the build, that kit will do just fine.

And we're her to see you don't screw it up too badly.

Thanky...This Nosen kit is the essence of everything that can be wrong with a kit....If I survive the build, The 'Coupe will be my reward.

Some interesting things have been discovered today. While we were trying to sort out the actual scale reproduction of the 1/4 scale Nosen kit,we learned the Decathlon Xtreme has an airfoiled stabilizer..

The outer ends of it have been squared off, also.

I made some angle brackets for jigging the wings today.Lowes has some aluminum angle,1-1/2 x 1-1/2, x 1/16...and I got a 4' length to cut as upright fixtures. I cut them 1-1/2 " long, and drilled a hole in the center of one side..Aligning the upright edge against the rib marked on the plan, one screw will locate it.
A clamp will hold the rib in position for gluing.

Building/storage space.

DUH ! The shop I'm building in is small,(easy to heat with baseboard heaters),and space is at a premium..A friend who restores full size Champs suggested an old chest of drawers as a building table...with drawers to store parts of a model...Now, I have wing ribs in one drawer, fuselage parts in another, stab, rudder, etc.
I elevated it about 4" for toe clearance...it's 1" thick top accepts my clamping screws well. It is severely straight and unwarped and five feet long,by 16" wide.
HOO ruh !

The parts have been removed from the "die-cut" HA! sheets, and repaired as best they can be.I didn't replace any thing (although I desperately wanted to )to try to keep this an "honest" build...Many,many of these have been built from those kits, and fly well.
I have not been 'spoiled' by the laser cut kits, but some of us appear to have been. My joy is building...if it's sometimes more difficult, then the reward is that much sweeter, when it flys.
The right wing is under construction...

Flap'n wings

I can't find a 3 view of the new Xtreme Decathlon, but in one photo taken at Oshkosh, it looks to have flaps.
Does anybody know fer sure?

That is a good question...I saw one at Oshkosh and I am pretty sure that it does not have 'em.

Here is a decent picture...can't be certian but it looks like there are none:

Most Decathlon's don't have flaps, right? I could be wrong about that...

One 'n only

So far, there's only one Xtreme, and I have a picture that I can't paste...It has two marks that look like flap edges, but could be access panels.
They finally put the wobbly tailwheel on Steroids, and hung 210 horsepower on the nose..

The Ailerons have been rehinged at the 29% mark, and the elevators have squared off tips. The Stabilizer area has been increased and given an airfoil not unlike the Extra wing.....A large round leading edge tapering to nothing.

That's the one...I am pretty sure it has no flaps...If you wait until early August, I can confirm that for you

Actually...just found this. I can't imagine that I see flaps there:

That's the picture I can't be sure of.....I have it as wallpaper, and just at where a flap outline SHOULD be,there are two lines that COULD be.!
Although I will agree their chord would be much greater than normal.....

I'd be surprised if they did, after reducing the weight by 68 pounds..

It's odd that i'm seeing posted numbers of a 30' wingspan,30.8 .and 31.8 on the only airplane that existed at that time.....Maybe I need to curb my excitement, until some actual numbers are available.
