HiSKY FBL100 / Turnigy FBL100 / WLToys V922 vs. mCP X Parts Compatibility

Here's an easy reference for HiSKY and Turnigy FBL100 and WLToys V922 owners. The mCP X has a lot of after market parts providers so it is assumed any upgrade that fits on the mCP X (KBDD, Xtreme, Astroid, Bolt, etc.) will fit in our helis as long as the stock part is marked compatible below. Let me know if there are any errors or omissions and I'll update this original post.

HiSKY FBL100 / Turnigy FBL100 / WLToys V922 <--> mCP X Parts Compatibility Guide

These are parts that are capable of a direct swap between models:

.......................... HiSky.. Turnigy WLToys. Blade

1. mCP X (KBDD) mounting pins are wider by ~0.4 mm, requires filing. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=366
2. grommets/holes not in same place, ~3 mm difference. need to drill new holes
3. mCP X frame has a round port for the tail boom
4. mCP X tail boom is round not square. need to file the end to a square shape so that it fits the frame
5. mCP X tail motor is 6mm.

And here's a handy price comparison for different sources.

Suggested Upgrades

I haven't come across anything specific as these fly great out of the box... but would like to have an easy index to follow so if anyone cares to share their favorites or recommended must dos to address an issue, avoid future potential problems, and/or increase performance. Will also start by doing a forum search and update this as I find things.

1. Batteries - upgrade to 550mAH [link] [credit]

2. Tail Boom - switch to solid CF rod 3mm with ends filed to square [link] [credit]

..... $19.99

or switch to 3mm CF tube will allow you to still run wires inside the boom [link] [credit].

Main motor has been reported working on both FBL100/V922 and mCPX http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...elicopter.html

Thanks will update! Makes it an excellent part replacement on the mCP X side then given the higher power and lower cost (win win!). But I'm surprised one of the commenters on the HK forum said it's weaker than the mCP X.

I'll probably get one V922 motor in my next order on BG http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Wl...3-p-60162.html.
BG has in stock Bolt MCPX compatible parts at good price, i'll report my findings

I have one from the Turnigy on the way too! It's a long wait though.

I've been eyeing those Bolt stuff but only saw them on buychina. They're pricey... might be rebranded Microhelis? Happy shopping!

Skids

YET again, just in another thread:
For the skids, the KBDD skids fit (surprisingly sometimes without modding [that was the case for my orange ones], sometimes with a little bit of carefully filing the mounting posts down [as was the case for my green ones ... but only took like two minutes or so]) AND then OF COURSE the airtime skids, which I just think are the most bestest skids for ANY micro.
Rich (the owner) makes them in different versions and (I have not tried this specifically on the V922, but I KNOW from doing this for my mCPX) the can be made to fit any (micro) frame if you use CF rod for the skid pipes instead of the "stock" skid pipes that come with it.
Second advantage here is that (contrary to the official version, which can not be disassembled again once connected) the CF rod mod allows to take them apart any time you want, switch the CF to aluminum pipe (or anything else you fell like) and swap them to a different heli.
And finally, as I take the Xtreme skid nuts for micros and some slilicon fuel line pieces (DuBro No.221) to mark where the brackets have to be, I also have some "anti-slide-protection" right from the get-go for really flat surfaces like wood (floor) or eg. glass (table) ...

The carbon frame parts are quite obviously "inspired" by MH and Rakon - what I am missing is the frame that you are supposed to put them on (wont work on the plastic frame, or am I missing something???)

PS: THANX for the compatible parts list in the beginning - I did not get that far yet with my try (here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=101 and here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=102 )

This means, I will probably not buy a new V922 in a little while and instead get the parts I need and put them on one of the remaining mCPX tuning frames ... (ie the one from Xtreme ...)

Thanks E2 for the builds! A few questions... (1) How to get in touch with Rich for the airtime skids - and how much are they compared to the Orange KBDD skids as an easy to access affordable upgrade? (2) If you use the xtreme tuning frames they will most likely have a round port for the tail boom... in this case what tail assembly would you suggest?

1): just shoot him a mail to "airtimercproducts@gmail.com" (just without the ""). They are considerably more expensive than the KBDD skids, but based on my personal experience in crashing them they are worth every penny! (YMMV)

2)Daaaaaaaing! I didnt even think of this. But oh well, it essentially doesnt matter. As I dont think Xtreme makes any other tail assembly than their rather ill-fated turbo motor kit (which really makes the tail "better", but at what cost???), I would suggest the aluminum tail mount by RKH. It can be used with 2mm or 3mm booms (and both is readily available as solid CF rods) and comes in the right size (7mm motor diameter)
Of course, this runs counter the general concept of the V922 being a "cheap" alternative (let me rather call that "universally affordable" ... but that has never been my primary "concern" - I want that stuff is "good" (and I learned the hard way, in by far the most cases, this comes with a price ... in particular in RC)

Anyway, this is again a project that is still a little further away, there is WAAAAY too much other stuff that "burns under my nails" (as the proverb would say in German) before I can get there ... (maybe I will even combine the "Xtreme V922" with a scale fuse project ... YET another idea ... ok, GOTTA STOP THIS!!! "Virus" is taking over "need medicine" ... ...

cheers,
E2

I bought it from bangood.com and tried to bind it with the Hobbyking NO LCD remote with success. but when I try to go back to banggood remote the servo barely move, with no resolution at all, like the binding wasn't successful.

Why can't I bind the LCD remote ?

Thanks for the leads Sven, I'm in touch with Rich now. What I want to avoid is to get yet another landing gear that has pins that will require filing. Will see what I can work out with him.

I've also updated the suggested upgrades with your turbo tail idea but that's a huge upgrade (after market frame + tail assembly + wire connector mod) so will wait for some brave soul to try and report back first! Also our stock tail motor is not so bad... if anything we just need a stronger tail boom.

frames

so what exactly is the reason in your compatibility list that you say the mCPX frame is NOT compatible? just the boom (round vs square)??
Because I guess, this would be a comparably small "hurdle" to take ...
