Are direct driven outrunners really that smooth? I would think you would want to have them run through a gear reduction to minimize any cogging at startup from showing up on the video?

I guess need to use stepper motor? not just outrunner motor.

They are rewound out runners from what I understand not stepper motors.

But in order to hold position and do small step movement, it can only be achieve by stepper motor.

They are using a custom controller to do it as the videos seem to show it works.

I think the videos are proving that you don't need stepper motors to get the kind of smooth movement that we are all looking for. I'm really excited about what has been shown so far.

This controller is incredible!
Alexmos has done an extremely great job on the firmware and the electronix design.

I hope I can soon fly my AutoQuad like Jussi does:

I think everyone with "average" incomes were waiting for an intelligent soul to produce a DJI competitor. Now let's hope he is on our side and gifts us with a fair price.

That last Autoquad Alexmos video pretty much sealed it for me.
