I only recently took an interest in aerial video when I started seeing YouTube videos esp. FPV, which can only really be experienced. So, I got myself a Ladybird V2 for Christmas and already broke it trying to learn to fly inside the house and in the backyard too close to the house. I ordered another and it will arrive today. But perhaps I should have bought this V959 or the Hoten-X with a DICE cam. Oh well, at least I have Ladybird spare parts for when I break this one while trying to learn to fly - in a spacious park with grass this time!

I just noticed you guys mentioning OpenShot and Kdenlive and wanted to send you a thanks for the mentions. In addition to MLT, I used to make Kino and have contributed to both OpenShot and Kdenlive, more so Kdenlive. But keep an eye out on my new project Shotcut, which aims to take the lessons learned on all of those and provide something cross-platform and ready-to-use.

If Kdenlive had chroma-key, antishake feature, it would be best nonlinear video editor. it's already perfect to quickly edit footage from FPV. I use it since times when it was very unstable but I was persistent while all my colleagues were using not free editors (in my country nobody pays for soft anyway, everything is cracked and available freely). I think we will have antishake filter in Kdenlive if developers interested in FPV. I can't wait my v959 as I could send it anywhere not worrying much of damage. such little quads are best choice as bigger motors suffer from overheat and don't last long, especially on helicopters.

(Sorry to be off-topic, let's discontinue this sub-thread after this.)

it does have those features. Video stabilization since v0.9. Linux distributions tend to lag a lot, which makes it very difficult for developers to get timely feedback/confirmation of bug fixes. That is something I am addressing by providing daily builds of Shotcut.

Chroma key is there as well, but it is not great:

The answer to these questions would interest me also very much!

It have been mentioned that v959 is much slower and flies just like v949 if you add some load to it. But not as much load as 808 camera as 808 contains own battery as well. Someone was trying to find the way to use quad's battery not to lift cameras battery but didn't report about success of that attempt as far as I know.

Mm well I know I can pull off at between 18 and 23g off the v959 right off the bat and still maintain structural rigidity... And keep camera etc so that's what I will do first up

my v959 just started doing this.. before today it would launch like a normal quad, but now if I give it too much throttle, it will flip to the left :-(

Same thing here. But it's not a problem as I've gotten used to spooling up slowly.

I compared the V959 camera with my F5000 camera (mini-review). In a nutshell, having a wide-angle lens would be great for recording aerial videos.

The V959 camera should come with a wide-angle lens!

I would really like a aerial platform with a quality video at the 959's price range. As cheap as the 808s are, why can't these people put a similar camera on their quads and small helis? The attached video is the Hoten-X with the 808 attached with velcro to the top of the hull.
Well, I am also considering getting the 959 hoping that it will be a more stable aerial video platform vs my 929+808#16. I plan to get rid of the 959's stock camera and use the 808#16 instead - also drawing power from the main battery to save 5grams.

Here's my current setup, AUW at 85grams.

Yeah, and set the aspect ratio to 16:9.

I just realized the comparison photo is a little misleading. The top photo should have been the 808#9, because it is more "tele" than the V959 camera. In other words, the V959 is wider than the 808#9 camera.

I made a short aerial video of my V959 flying through a heritage site.

if you don't plan on using the v959 camera, you should just get the v959, receiver board, air frame, and landing skids.. and convert your existing v929 into a v959.. you can get those 3 parts for less than $20 shipped from banggood... the v929's tx works with the v959.. it just can't control the light or camera functions...

Does the upper left button of the 929 TX work to change the rates on the 959 board?
Also, would you happen to know how much the 959 RX board weigh?

Thanks!

Hey Natscape I know this maybe a bit off topic...but I just managed to squeeze in a full fpv kit, 2 batteries and an 808#16 v2 (wide angle lens)camera on my v929 and kept the weight at 83g auw.. I did some test flights at home which where very promising... Just waiting for the wind to die down and will maiden her outside a bit...

It's the Same set up I am hoping to use on the v959...
