I've always just loved the look of an uncovered/unpainted balsa model. There's something neat about seeing the way the bits and pieces have all been fitted together to form an airplane-shaped skeleton. I've even built one or two planes where I get to the covering stage and go "Damn, maybe I should just hang this one up as ceiling art" (haven't gone that far yet).

So who all's got a not-quite-finished plane that you wanna share? Let's see that handiwork

nice idea for a thread! I thought i was going crazy before thinking that i like my plane uncovered but now i know it's not just me haha! loving the look of that plane btw whats it called ( the top one) ?

I almost hate to see some structures covered,because they look so good.
This partially built Fairchild F-24 has been under construction so long,the wood has changed color !

Here's a bunch out of the files, from around 1999 onwards, to a couple (VSP and Speedy Bee) that are airworthy now.

A pretty much finished 'nekked' shot is almost obligatory when you build with wood!

Those jets done in balsa are impressive. The hatch detail of the Cougar is a work of art! Is that an old porsche mid-engine under the tarp?

This is my Zlin 526AS. Scratchbuilt from Sig plans except for the wing. The wing is built-up rather than foam core as is the Sig version.
