Utah Red Rock F3K Challenge 2013

Utah DLG invites you to the third annual “Utah Red Rock F3K Challenge” in St. George UT, population ~100,000 - elevation 2860’.

The date has been set for March 22 - 23, 2013. Please note that this is a Friday/Saturday instead of the traditional Saturday/Sunday. There have been multiple requests for this change, and the informal poll we took of potential participants indicated no strong resistance. Although a few still prefer Sat/Sun, nobody said they wouldn't or couldn't do Fri/Sat. Since there are a good number of pilots at this event who strongly prefer to not fly on Sundays, we decided to give it a try this year and see how it works out. I hope everyone can accommodate.

With your participation we expect this to be both a USA F3K Tour and TS qualifying event. Beginners and expert alike are welcome. Lunch will be provided both days, along with breakfast snacks and coolers full of cold drinks. Start time and task list TBD. The field will be available for practice and clinics the day before the official competition starts.

Turner Turf Farm is the field location - 1075 East Telegraph Street, Washington, UT (MAP). On-site overnight camping is permitted (self-contained only, and must be located outside of the sprinkler arm path). There is also a full-service RV Park literally just across the street (Winter Haven RV Resort). There are also many nice public campgrounds in the nearby area; as well as a plethora of convenient and affordable hotels/motels, restaurants, and services of all types.

AREA ATTRACTIONS
Southern Utah is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in the world, with its unique red rock formations and spectacular canyons. Daytime temps should be around 70. There is much to see and do, so bring the whole family and enjoy the natural wonders. Zion National Park is only a few minutes away, and is a MUST SEE (PICS, VIDEO). Can you brave a hike to the top of Angels Landing (VIDEO)? Easier hikes are available, or tour the park from the road in the free shuttles. Great boating, bass fishing, and ATV riding at Sand Hollow (HERE). World class golf in some of the most stunning settings imaginable (HERE).

Entry fee $40 to cover expenses (food, prizes, AMA sanction & insurance, restrooms, land owner gratuity, etc.). Any remaining proceeds will be donated to the USA F3K 2013 team fund. Please feel free to include an extra amount above and beyond your registration fee for the Team. Not required but highly encouraged. We're all for supporting the Team however we can, and contributing a little to the fund each time we gather to play this game is a good way to help. Good luck to our team at the world championships in Denmark, and THANK YOU in advance. Please register in advance by posting here or sending me a PM. Include your full name and Tx frequencies. Please PayPal your entry fee to UtahDLG@gmail.com.

AMA membership required for all participating pilots. Please bring your card. On-field signup will be available, but better to do it online (HERE) before the contest date. Just print out the receipt with your AMA number on it and bring with you.

Come play with us!

So there.

Citrus 2.4

Hopefully you wait to publish the task list after we have flown a few rounds. I know you like to keep it a mystery, and nothin says mystery like launching w/o knowing what task you are flying!

Waldo is emotionally not able to make the final decision to attend the Red Rocks contest until the Grand Trophies have been revealed ///===|||===\\\ (cedar burled butt scratching claw)::::Utahn Grown/Crafted/Polished/Inscripted.

I'm now sitting on the fence at 60/40%. If we get to chase those glorious jewels; I'm all in.

So, for the appropriate Crown, What say ye?

March/April dates on Thur-Fri-Sat-Sun can all work for The Great Pepper.
