Shipping doesn't look too cheap for the size box I will need. The fuse is pretty long so I need a 40" + box. Taking off the wings helps The UPS quote is around $40. It's a bit cheaper if you have commercial address. .

You might try USPS Parcel Post. I've shipped slightly larger planes (Parkzone Habu; 43" long fuselage) coast to coast with $200 insurance for ~$30 all together. Takes about a week to get delivered.

Thanks. I suspect the online estimator might be designed to over estimate. The UPS and the USPS estimates were both higher than I thought they should be. Once I find a big enough box I'm package it and go the the UPS Store for an estimate and then to the post office.

Not that I've seen. I'd do some hunting. Sears. Pier One Imports. Bike shops. Hobby shops. They all usually have big clean, un-bent cardboard that you can use to make your own box (or sometimes you get lucky and find one that's the perfect size). Otherwise, you gotta buy one :-/
