I am looking for an outdoor four channel fixed pitch heli that can handle some mild wind. I have a V911, fun but obviously too small, and a Blade 120SR. The 120 get tossed about in mild wind and I am not all that happy with its performance in those conditions. What does everyone else fly satisfactorily in light wind conditions?

You might try a mini-quad. They handle wind pretty well. Otherwise, the only real choice you have in an FP heli is a Walkera V200D01, if you can find one. Be aware it may be obsolete and hard to get parts for and it's not particularly durable.

Walkrea also has Super F/P/Genius F/P. Blade has MSR-x all these are FBL 4 ch. Mini quad is good idea and will out fly any F/P 4 ch heli. V929/ MQX/Ladybird V1/V2. Be aware FBL 4 ch are harder to fly than a C/P in normal mode.

I suggested the V200D01 because it was larger than the micro sized flybarless FP helis and doesn't exhibit the same quirks they have. dankar04 is quite right about flybarless FP micros being more difficult to fly than flybarless CP micros. Flybarless control sytems work best with high headspeed and constant throttle settings; which you don't get with FP helis. It's really hard to beat a quad for FP flight, now. The advances in electronics have made them outstanding performers with great durability.

There are a number of people who enjoy flying the MJX F45 heli. It's actually easier to fly than your V911, probably the easiest FP heli to fly there is. It's quite heavy so some light wind doesn't bother it. It's underpowered, has little movement authority, quality is not the best and needs upgrades. I would never recommend it, just making you aware of it.

Multiplex Funcopter is an option to OP but for the price you might as well get a T-rex 450

Fixed pitch - mainly because my of inexperience and cost of a collective pitch.

experience can be learned
cost is a harder one i think youll find by the time you find one that you can fly more then not the costs get to be about the same
the Multiplex Funcopter is one wile its fixed pitch and can deal with a fair amount of wind
the costs are getting close to that of a 450 size collective pitch

The original suggestions we gave are still your best bets for that budget. The mini-quads mentioned are far cheaper.

FP just does not do well outdoors no matter what the ads say. You need a CP to fly outdoors. But don't be spooked out of CP because everyone says they are so hard. IMHO the 120 SR is harder to fly because you are constantly fighting the TBE (toilet bowl) and pendulum effects.

Get a Blade Nano and learn CP. It will fly fine outdoors. You can get the RTF version for $190 but a better bet would be to get the BNF version for $150 and get a DX6i radio ($160). Research beginner settings and dial down the rates at first.

I certainly agree with the TBE and pendulum stuff with the 120 SR. Had I known I never would have bought it. Sounds like it is time to venture into collective pitch.
