I'm leaning that way Woody. Ordered a 1/7th full body pilot from Century Jets for it.

Two panels left and the top of the fuse will be skinned. I think I will do the front bottom and then the FG nose cone while I'm making a canopy mold. I'm removing much of the interior crutch as I go.
I think the top is the hardest skinning part. J |

OK, here's the deal. Thrust to weight. Not sure which system I'll use yet but leaning to the Scorpion 3026. Have to check specs on it again but it hauls my 8 lb birds with authority.
As to hand launch, my 141% F-16 hand launches just fine ( by the pilot no less!)with about 500-600 watts. Can't remember what it weighs but I'm guessing around 5 lbs. This size is 200%. MIT KID said his big EF weighed up to 17 lbs in testing and they hand launched it. But there is a difference. His is a twin TRACTOR power system. With the pusher you have no prop blast over the controls and it needs some speed for good control on the launch. I'm hoping to keep this around 8 lbs, hopefully less, we'll see. Right now the fuse weighs 22 oz. The wings are 5 oz each. Stabs are 1.3 oz each. So I think we are on track so far. But as I said, we'll see. Did I mention I have a gold medal in the Olympics for javelin throwing? J |

But as J said, it'll be a bit trickier with a pusher. If you can come in sub 10 lbs this thing will be beyond awesome. Looking sweet already. -Adam |

Thanks guys
![]() It all depends on the AUW. Bungee is NOT out of the equation but hopefully it will be hand launch. Could have left this a simple profile and it would have hand launched easily. But as usual, OC took over and I'm going full blown scale on it. It might be Hans' flier when he's here but I have to look at it all the time. ![]() Adam, I will be placing a hand grip on the bottom. The 141% F-16 has sandpaper patches on the bottom, my hand just barely fits for hand launch. This bottom is too wide for that. Have the top done skinning. I'm glad! ![]() Working on a batt box that will be in the nose for a 4s-5000 if I go the Scorpion route.Last of the build pics until Monday, have some family business this weekend. Forgot to post this pic of the 141% F-16 and the big one. The big one gets an add'l 11" nose cone too!!!! J |
