I'm really liking the look so far.
The hatches on each side are for the wing hold on screws and to access the rec. Those aren't tailerons, they are flying stabs controlled by a single servo which is already set up. If I need to access it I will simply cut a hatch at that time.
Have to get the suburban serviced today and get license for the new pickup. That means some shopping for my better half will be involved so I don't expect to get much done today.
When I get back on it I will need to address the bottom. Still a bunch of cosmetic work down there before glassing.
I think it's about time to weigh it all too.

My bad I was looking at your elevator setup the other day I don't know why I called them Taileron's. I like you setup seems quick and easy and Im all for the pin through the whole assembly to keep it solid and from twisting. I saw a write up in a magazine a couple years back, where the guy was using nylon toilet bolts to attach the wings. I believe he cut the heads off the bolts and glued the stud into the wing then he slide them through and tightened up the nut,drilled a hole through the nut and stud and put a pin through to keep them from backing out. I might do something like that on my YF 23 if I can find room to put them if not I will use tabs and a couple small screws.

Not sure I will hit that magic 4 lbs but it should be close. I'm thinking more like 5 lbs just airframe weight. The fuse is 2 lbs now with more work to do. The wings are around 5 oz each sans ailerons. Stabs are about 3 oz each. Vertical and base I haven't weighed. I think I'll go out in the shop and weigh it all right now, stay tuned.

Here is where we are on weight so far.
Fuse 33.5 oz
Wing (R) 5.8
Nose cone 2.7
Total 61.6 oz= 3.8 lb
To finish airframe:
Fill weave on fuse
Lower rear fins
Canopy 0.040 plastic
So you can see I really won't make 4 lbs, will be difficult to make 5 lbs but should be close.
Then to make it flyable:
3026-890KV Scorpion motor/prop/wire/esc
Battery 4s-5000 (18oz)
Two 9 g servos for ailerons
And finally paint. I had hoped to make to make AUW when done at 8 lbs and I really think that is doable. Actually should be closer to 7 lbs if I'm successful.
As far as hand launch, it should not be a problem with the help of another individual other than the pilot. Once comfortable with it, I'm sure Hans will be able to launch himself. Hans is a very good pilot. This plane will exactly fit the flight envelope that he enjoys, low level and slow passes. He never worries about being 3 mistakes high like I do.( I still tend to make 4 mistakes!).
For maiden I may throw a tow hook on it just to be safe. It all depends on how it feels to me when I get it ready and power up in my hands. My 141% F-16 hand launches easily with 500 watts and a strong throw and I just can't see this one being any harder.
Also, on the color scheme. I discussed it with Hans. I'm just not feeling the brown desert camo scheme. I feel better going with the standard two tone gray. Hans said that was fine so that is what I'm going with. It just looks more like a F-16 to me.

Right Nut, it will be a big floater.
As I remember a 11x8 APC gives about 900 watts on 4s.
Never been a big fan of the aggressor scheme. Don't know why, just doesn't trip my trigger.
