Plug n Play Futaba DSM2 Module Adaptor For Newer Futaba Transmitters
There are other good and practical solutions to the problem of making a non-module Futaba Tx DSM2 compatible but it strikes me that there should be one that doesn't need any modification beyond the application of a couple of Velcro pads. I have designed an adaptor plate which a Spektrum DM8 module simply plugs onto and is attached to the Tx in the same way.
You can see it working on a 9C Tx and I will verify it on an 8FG as soon as I can. I will be upgrading directly to the new 14SG when available and I need a method of making it compatible with all my indoor and BnF models. For convenience I have added an screw-on antenna which isn't part of the module kit but is far more convenient and reliable than the Spektrum offering. The antenna needs to have a reverse polarity (RP) SMA connector and not a standard WiFi one which is standard polarity. The most convenient way to get the correct one is to buy a replacement FRSky Tx antenna. Attached Images

I haven't had a chance to test it yet on other Tx but it works on the same principle as the one by Bdelapen of this forum. So it should be OK. I have a few PCBs I can make up a some more, would you like one. Andy. |

Hello Andy!
Nice plate you have made there. I am testing with my DM8 module too. Am I right to use the pins 1(PPM),2(Ground) and 6(V+) of the trainer port? The module pins are 1(PPM), 2 (V+) and 4(Ground)? I don't get it working. Think, the PPM-signal doesn't work. Tested it with my T9CP and my new T14SG. Do you have any ideas? Greetings from Germany Holger |

I got it working now!
I think the PPM signal doesn't fit to the module. Now I found a thread in this forum with a transistor and a resistor between the PPM from transmitter and module. This thread is. Didn't you do any mods like this on your plate? Holger |
