HELP ...hexTronik 24gram Brushless Outrunner 3000kv

I have used these "Blue Wonders" in "A Lot" of foamies with a lot of good luck. Single & twins. With several different KV's.
Here is the question: How do you tell the 3000KV motor from all the others. Once out of the box they all look the same to me.
(I run all the Blue Wonders (which are silver) on 3 cell Lipos. except the 3000kv's which I run on 2 cells. I have found that the 3000's do not like 3 cells.
Any help breaking the code on the 3000's ??
Thanks, Richard

I don't have a 3000 but the magnet count will be a primary signal (least magnets with highest Kv). The wind will probably be different too. Like ABC for the high Kv's and arms wound in sequential groups of three for some of the others.

Have you studied it on the red and blue and silver wonder winding thread or on places like Truglodite's blog?

Erm.. wasn't the 3000kv motor the first/only blue wonder with a DLRK wind ? that started Dave North on his rewinding of these.. adventures.
Fairly easy to identify such by magnet count :-).
Search: blue wonder rewinds by Timocharis..

This report page from Truglodite's blog page has a bunch of zip files and includes the spreadsheets that contain all the data on wonder motors of all types. I thought that would be a good place to find the magnet counts and wind types for the various versions of the motor.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...89&postcount=1

Then there is the list of threads there too, the HXT2730 related threads apply as far as having info that will sort them out.

Then there is the timocharis blog page, with it's tons of info and links to tons of info:

I don't suppose the OP was just hoping that someone would just tell him what he wanted to know so that he did not have to find it the hard way? If that is the case, maybe timocharis or Truglodite will drop by.

Don't take my comments as a criticism, I have been overwhelmed by the masses of info here before too...

Put an 8x4 on it. Power with 3S. If it goes like crazy and gets hot fast it's 3000KV.

Your best bet needs a wattmeter and a tach so you can measure raw KV.
No wattmeter yet? Get one, you'll want one.
There are a number of these motors (numerous incarnations over the last couple years) so most anything else is mostly guessing.

One of these is pretty useful and easier than the method above.
K1 meter

I'd rather put the $18.99 for the K1 toward a Wattmeter and Tach which will be far more useful in the long run.

IIRC, the 3000 is multi strand wire and the others were single strand
