JX-24 Scratchbuilt RC Jet

I've taken much from this forum, and have built using many of the available planes on here. I figured it was time to give something back. I don't have the ability or expertise to make plans, but I can provide photos and sketches if someone else is willing to put in the work.

Built out of Model Plane Foam, except for the KFm2 step, which is made from de-papered and tempered Dollar Tree Foam. Bamboo skewers sandwiched between the layers for the spar. I haven't had any problem with wing flex.

Specs:
Wingspan - 22"
Length - 22"
Weight - 9.6 oz minus battery
Battery - 800-1200mah 3s
Motor - I'm using a rewound Exceed RC Alpha 370, spinning a 6x4.
ESC - HK Super Simple 25-30A
Servos - Turnigy 9G

J - the first letter of my name
X - experimental
2 - Because of the slight resemblance to the famous F-22
4 - It's a delta wing, and D is the 4th letter of the alphabet.

UPDATE 1/1/13
Updated plans added to the first post

Nice looking plane. No offense but I do like the cartoony nature of its look. If you want I may be able to do plans of this thing, would just need more info on dimensions to get accurate plans made.

Thanks! I guess the cartoonish look comes from the wider fuselage. I don't like needing to squeeze my fingers into a small hatch, so I made sure it was wide enough to easily access.

I can provide a scale 3-view drawn out on graph paper. Do you want any other pictures or details about it?

I agree, I like it. It looks like a delta cartoony F-22 because of the tail profiles and the wing shoulders. Very cool design!

I designed it a while ago, but I just recently built it after making several modifications. It seems to handle wind quite well. I haven't had a chance to try it in over 5-10mph. Inverted is very easy, with only a little up pressure. Loops and rolls are solid. This plane flies and handles very much like Dekan's F-22.

Here are the sketches. Each square is 1/2". I tried to put all the measurement's in to make it easier. I hope it doesn't make it more confusing. The bottom fuse is the same as the upper, but you may have to trim it to fit. The prop slot should be cut to fit the motor used. The KF panel is the shaded section on the wing. Feel free to ask if you need help interpreting the random scribbles on the plans.

Pictures should do fine. I design the same way though my note pad is much smaller, like 3.3"x4.7". Big enough to fit in my pocket.I mainly use the small drawing as refeance to remember the big idea.

Ill do my best to get these done up quickly. Im a bit tired though right now after work and hacking up fire wood

Im almost done with the plans but I need to know what angle you mounted the vertical stabs at since I see its not at 90. Also if you can post up a side veiw of the completed plane. Im not sure of how the Fuse meets the wing. By your drawings there should be a big opening but Im not seeing that so far on your finished plane.

CoG location would be good to know too. Doing the finishing touches on the plans now.

I forgot about that. I just measured them and they are at 70 degrees from the wing.

The fuse just slides onto the wing from the front. Here's the side view. Let me know if you need any more pictures.

Cool, I should have the plans up later tonight. They are basicly done, just needed those last bits of info to finalize them. Took a little over an hour to draw them up. Its 12:30 PST now, should be up around 7~8pm tonight.

Ok, plans are done. I made a few modifications on a couple parts to hopefully make them lock together a little better. Let me know if you see anything wrong that needs to be changed.

Edit: plans updated in another post.

Beautiful! I like the mods. Everything looks good. Now we need someone to build from the plans...

might help if you repost the plans in the first post. make it a lot easier for people to find them that way.
