FY DOS autopilot
Here is the thread for the DOS system from Feiyu tech.
Please see this thread for additional information and video's posted in the first three posts... http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1575919
Some general info
1) DOS is an IMU autopilot (no thermo piles)
2) it has a functioning GCS in windows 7
3) the AP can not retain any waypoints
4) it can RTL, or circle at given location and do "click and fly"
5) it works with xbee pro ttl modems
6) it has NO airspeed sensor however it does increase throttle to keep ground speed
8) it is also very cheap and should work with the Hornet OSD
Who am I?
I do not work for FY.
About me.. I own or have tried the following for fixed wing craft.
2) Atto pilot (never really got the support I wanted and they moved on wanting more money for features I thought were standard)
3) FY-21AP (good but 31AP is waaay better)
4) FY-3ZT (good but more complex)
5) FY-Panda system (replacment for 3ZT and flies excellent)
6) Eagle Tree (excellent but no waypionts or GCS)
Ok I will reserve some first posts then update as required.

WARNING I have just found that if you don't orientate the arrow to the back of the airplane then the compass will not function properly in the OSD or the GCS. I have it facing backward now so that it reads correctly.
My plane flies drunk in a big S and turns 90 degrees to the flight path, overshoots and seems drunk... how do I tune it?
Will it work for multi rotors?
yes, here is a thread dedicated to multi rotors with DOS http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1873514
where do I buy it?
There is alternative fair and cheap price for people that are willing to spend less:
can I use my own modem?
yes any standard xbee protocol or 3DR modem will work
does it work with XP?
I don't have any issues personally, if you do let me know and I will post them here
how do I upgrade firmware?
with a downloadable utility inside the zip there is a pdf that explains everything... if you can't read then you can watch this video http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=661
how cold can it be to fly?
I have flown in 0 deg C with no issues.
will it display my voltages and current on the GCS and the OSD?
yes it works well with the Hornet OSD but will not display voltage and current in the GCS.
Where can I find the latest gcs download?
the latest one is found here http://www.feiyu-tech.com/download-e...d=43&nav_num=6 I have it working on windowns 7. Run AND INSTALL this program as an administrator.
There is a 2D GCS now but I need to make a map (gst and jpg file) for it... where do I get the program?
They now have two programs to make the offline 2D maps, one called mapmaker which I have a how to video below for and one called GScreen but I need to make a video for that.
Why can't I create any offline maps?
You need to select the map area from top left to lower right when defining an area to create a map.
Both will need an older version of Google Earth found here http://www.feiyu-tech.com/download-en.php?id=63
Where do I find other FY downloads like firmware upgrades?
they are found here http://www.feiyu-tech.com/download_list-en.php
A good post on programming the ER9X for a 6 way switch can be found here
how do I attach the hornet OSD?
Where is a manual for the multi rotor firmware

I am looking for a new OSD and autopilot system to put in my super sky surfer. I'm thinking about trying adrupilot 2.5 do you think it's good! Also is there an OSD that works with it so I don't have to have 2 gps's etc. I'm also wondering how good the 31ap is? And how easy is it to setup etc. what's the difference in the 31ap and the DOS?

The DOS (haven't tried it yet, currently on its way) does much the same thing without the waypoint navigation but has circle, return to launch and stabilizer built in, can be hooked up to Hornet OSD from memory.

So is the dos any cheaper? I don't really care about waypoint stuff. I just want something with stabalization return to home and an OSD.

Dos will have better vibration rejection and there is talk that they will test out multi rotor firmware on it in the future too... so there are some minor differences.
I do recommend the 31AP but we don't have any test data on the DOS just yet.
As for APM... some love it... my opinion is a negative one... however I don't have the latest harware so maybe its ok... but they won't be getting me to buy it anytime soon.
