Some general info

1) DOS is an IMU autopilot (no thermo piles)
2) it has a functioning GCS in windows 7
3) the AP can not retain any waypoints
4) it can RTL, or circle at given location and do "click and fly"
5) it works with xbee pro ttl modems
6) it has NO airspeed sensor however it does increase throttle to keep ground speed
7)
8) it is also very cheap and should work with the Hornet OSD

About me.. I own or have tried the following for fixed wing craft.

1) Ardupilot
2) Atto pilot (never really got the support I wanted and they moved on wanting more money for features I thought were standard)
3) FY-21AP (good but 31AP is waaay better)
4) FY-3ZT (good but more complex)
5) FY-Panda system (replacment for 3ZT and flies excellent)
6) Eagle Tree (excellent but no waypionts or GCS)

WARNING I have just found that if you don't orientate the arrow to the back of the airplane then the compass will not function properly in the OSD or the GCS. I have it facing backward now so that it reads correctly.

yes any standard xbee protocol or 3DR modem will work

There is a 2D GCS now but I need to make a map (gst and jpg file) for it... where do I get the program?
They now have two programs to make the offline 2D maps, one called mapmaker which I have a how to video below for and one called GScreen but I need to make a video for that.

And still wait AP with air speed sensor from FyeTech.

yes they have told me recently that the airspeed sensor development is now on hold... not sure when it will come to market.

I am looking for a new OSD and autopilot system to put in my super sky surfer. I'm thinking about trying adrupilot 2.5 do you think it's good! Also is there an OSD that works with it so I don't have to have 2 gps's etc. I'm also wondering how good the 31ap is? And how easy is it to setup etc. what's the difference in the 31ap and the DOS?

I think the FY-31 is easy to setup and use, I used it on my 1st RC plane to help me learn to fly, now has 20 waypoints for autonomous navigation which is fun to use.

The DOS (haven't tried it yet, currently on its way) does much the same thing without the waypoint navigation but has circle, return to launch and stabilizer built in, can be hooked up to Hornet OSD from memory.

So is the dos any cheaper? I don't really care about waypoint stuff. I just want something with stabalization return to home and an OSD.

Nearly same price when you include the OSD Hornet.

Dos will have better vibration rejection and there is talk that they will test out multi rotor firmware on it in the future too... so there are some minor differences.

I do recommend the 31AP but we don't have any test data on the DOS just yet.

As for APM... some love it... my opinion is a negative one... however I don't have the latest harware so maybe its ok... but they won't be getting me to buy it anytime soon.

Yeah it's actually cheaper to get the fy31ap with hornet OSD combo.

If it will be able to have multirotor capabilities that will be cool aswell but I'm not sure the $260 for the fy31ap plus OSD is as good as the new APM 2.5. People have made and said promising things about it. I just don't know what to gettttt!
