it's great to see this. as a child in the 70's i would build guillows and comet modles rubber powered and free flight and control line1/2 a nitro powered.i could imagine how cool it would be to have a micro rc plane.i remember brining up the subject to a neighbor who was flying a 4 channel 40 sized rc plane of the day and he nearly scolded me for even sugesting such a thing.
i am far from an expert but to me it is a fantastic thing to build these modles and convert them to rc and to have lived in a day when there were no such conversions.

Dime Scale models with 16 inch span are quite suitable.
I am in the process of covering this Comet Fleet Special.
Skylake bipes are a good choice. http://www.skylakemodels.com/ like this Pup.

Glider90 and JK13. Good eye! The Taylorcraft was from the Micro X kit. It was originally built by a now deceased friend and flown as a rubber model. It has hung over my desk for some time till I decided it needed to fly again. I rebuilt the underside and tail surfaces to incorporate the brick. Only the right elevator is active to simplify the pushrod installation. It can be horsed around a gym but really flys well outdoors especially on a sunny day where the translucent stick and tissue construction looks so good I fly it like a free flight with a 30 second circling climb and then let it glide down. That way I can turn it back if it wanders into dangerous territory! Best, Aero

Thanks Aero.

I am just getting into Micro RC after 25 years of Free Flight. I picked through the many *many* kits I have to find a simple candidate for a set of UM P-51 guts, and that 21" Micro-X T-craft caught my eye.

I think it will be a decent candidate, especially if kept light. I am planning to got wit ailerons as well on it.

I've used decal paper from Bel, Inc. The white paper is more opaque but it needs to be trimmed exactly or the the white will show around the edges. After you print the decal let it dry, and then hit it with a light spray coat of matte finish to make it waterproof.

Yep. Bel Decal paper. Get the starter pack, 10 sheets of clear and 10 of white. Make sure to get ink jet paper. I put 4 light coats of Krylon clear on mine.
On any decals that have to be trimmed close to the ink, cut them out and seal the edges with coat of clear, if not, water will bleed under the top coat and ruin them.
