AD-1 Spad

Here are the dive brakes completed. All that is left is reinstall the radio and test fly. Unfortunately, my time this time of year to fly is getting less and less. Might have to wait until mid Jan to get a try.

Here is the plane using the barn door flaps for the first time.[Used the slider to control the flaps, but it was very awkward feeling so I didn't use them much. Once I get them on a switch it should prove easier to use. The plane didn't exhibit any bad tendencies when deployed and did slow down.

Here are some pictures of how I did the flaps. This plane is now the fourth one I have converted to a H or B model that had the flaps and no window. As you can tell I like the H models.

I modified my radio to activate the flaps on a push button switch instead of a toggle. The toggle was very awkward. Now my index finger can rest lazily on top of the switch so I can activate it at will.

One thing I need to point out if you intend to make these is that the servo horn must end up 90 degrees in relation to the servo to get even deployment of the flaps.
