ok i have a double horse 9104 and i see the dh 9117 is a 2.4 ghz but its a 4 channel and the 9104 is a 3 but i was wondering if it possible to change the rx and install it in the 9104 thus making it a 2.4 ghz system and get rid of the crappy 27mhz ?

i under stand i will have to get a new tx that will bind to the rx but seeing how it is a 4 channel would it not work?

I did, it can be done, but you're going to have trouble with the swashplate separating, you'll have to glue it down (I used epoxy) and HOPE it holds. It does fly pretty good though once you get used to the extra "control" you'll have...
if you want full 4 channel you're going to need another servo, you're going to have to turn the entire head assembly 180 degrees, get the 9116 servo arms, OR, you could leave everything as is, just plug up your servo you have and have a 2.4GHZ 3 channel...

ok matiac can you explain to me why the swash plate would separate i am not going to touch the swash plate just the rx so i am failing to see how that would effect the swash plate please explain i am all ears

OK, well having just opened my new 9117, the difference between the 9104 swash and the 9116/7 swash is it's size...it's bigger, so you'll want to change out the 9104 swash for the other, the 9104's is too small, and it will separate when you try to work the servos. The 9117 swash has totally free movement, and another thing I noticed too, was the arms that the servo arm attach to on the swash are longer, allowing more movement, the 9104's swash arms are too small to allow much movement, and it will separate as a result. When I say separate, if you look closely at the swashplate you can see it's 2 pieces that are pressed together, and it's only really meant for 1 servo for 3 channel operation. Why there're 2 more provisions for servos I don't know, but it WILL separate...it won't break, just press the 2 pieces back together, but unless you swap out the swashplate for the bigger one, you're going to be doing that an awful lot...

Yeah you can do that, you'll just have an empty servo port on the 2.4 brick, and you might actually get a little more flight time, as you won't have that other servo sucking up the battery. Another thing you'll have to do is change out the plugs for the main/tail motors...both will be too big for the 2.4 brick. Sacrifice your "headlight" plug for the tail motor, and the tail motor plug will be swapped over to the main motor...hope your soldering skills are up to snuff...

do you have any pictures on how to convert this too 4ch,and would the 9117 parts work better then the 9116?i just got a 9104 from my son and was thinking of doing this mod.thanks for all help

if you do it let me know as of right now my 9104 is on the down list....its not lifting and is pulsating at throttle so i am not sure if its battery or the rx board i am leaning towards the battery seeing how they are so cheap..........they (batteries) only last around 10 flights and i am not sure what would be a better battery for the chopper

Battery? Maybe, I got an entire season of flying from my battery, and it's still going strong, if you go the LiPo route, don't go much over 1500maH, the motor(s) can't take the current, at least not very long, and I stand corrected about gluing the swash, that was just my inexperience, DO NOT epoxy the swash, pulsating could be low batteries in your TX, could be the PCB, could be the motors getting ready to fly South, could be any number of things. But again, I have over 100 flights on my stock battery, so make sure it's not something else before you swap...

i am thinking about just sideling the dh 9104 for now

well its not the battery any idea how i can check the pcb or the motors that way i am not just throwing money at this thing
