Looking for Rossi 61 or OPS 60 Rear Exhaust

Hi Guys,
I was just give a beautiful EU1A that was set up for a Rossi 61 Rear exhaust. I need an
engine, anyone have one they would part with? I think this is called a FIRE (front intake, rear exhaust)

Thanks
Steve

currently on Ebay This is one of the most powerful Rossi made. I have one, slightly modded turning an APC 11X11 at 13K on the ground.

Hey Steve,
He is right, that one up there on Ebay was one of Rossi's best. I have one of those in a Hipo Tipo and it pulls that monster straight up. Should be great in the EU1A. Looks like a steal right now, but it still has a day to go.

Can someone in the know explain which Rossis are short stroke and which are long stroke? I think all the 61 rear exhausts were short strokes, but some of the side exhausts .60s were long strokes? How can you tell?

Thanks!

Matt,

One thing's certain. If the engine was made ~1990 or earlier, it is a SS. I don't think the Italians made LS engines until the 90's; maybe even later.

I think there are LS RE Axe Rossi's though built this century.

Here's a new 60 FIRE now in stock for us classic pattern fans...

http://www.planethobby.com/product.p...&cat=29&page=1

This engine pulls this 10.3 pounds of screaming bondo like a Japanese bullet train. In comparison the Tipo next to it is 8 pounds powered by a pumped and piped ST 60x...
Well... there is no comparison.

Matt,

By chance I've exchanged some emails with an ex-Rossi USA employee. I was told that Rossi made a LS RE engine in 1993 (I was on target) and was distinguished by a light gray head.

They also made a "square" engine which was denoted a SS but apparently didn't perform and they continued with the typical 24/22 geometry shorties.

There were also 3 port and 3+2 (boosted) port versions. The latter tached lower on the ground but unloaded better in the air. 14.5K on 20% and an 11x9, extra head shim - not bad!

I have "new and old" production SE and RE Rossi's and would like to find the full specs and info on each of them.

Steve,

For the EU-1A, you might want to consider going with a bored out Rossi or Webra. They made 81's and 90's in 61 cases. A new Rossi 81 was on auction recently for a couple of hundred - a reasonable price.

It might just give you that extra oomph on the large bird. Others have used Jett 90's and 100's as well.

Hi everybody,

What is the difference between long stroke and short stroke. I have a YS 60 long stroke that I plan to put in my atlanta. Also, where can I find the header for it and a pipe?

Thanks,

Le fou

Le fou,

Short stroke, square and long stroke denote engine displacement geometry. If the bore is greater than the stroke, it is considered short stroke, the converse would be a long stroke. Can you guess what a square engine is? Right, bore = stroke.

Hey Le Fou, Here’s some more info for you.

When referring to the YS engines.

Short stroke engines think small props with high revs, Long stoke engines larger props less revs.

You will need a MACS left hook header part # 3817 for the YS
and the 10cc muffled pipe part # 1260 for your install in the ATLANTA.

One other thing Prop it with an APC 11/10 -11 and keep the rpm around 12000 or so if it’s just a long stroke 61 and not the AR.
