Goodyear Tires...

Being a lifelong Automotive tech, I have seen alot of terribly worn tires on cars, and alot of them on cars with close to perfect alignments. By far the most issues I have seen is with Goodyear tires. Put a set of whatever brand on a car that is having wear issues with Goodyear, and voila, tire wear problems go away. Just checking to see what you guys have to say........

Every set of Goodyear I have had wore out in 30k miles or less. They ride nice but don't last.

Goodyear Integrities have ZIP wet traction and wear out in about 20K miles.

What's the difference between a used tire and 1,000 used condoms?

A Goodyear and a GOOD year!

Nothing but bad luck here...with the exception of the Goodyears on my 11 Element.. They are on target for a 50,000 mile life.. Oh and the Original Goodyear ATV tires on my 97 Honda TRX300FW. BTW, the Wrangler HPs on the Two slice toaster are made in Japan.

Thanks for the heads up. Since moving to the snowy north I find that I need some winter tyres, pronto. The prices are eye watering and the best that even Costco could do was 220 per tyre, for Michelin. Another retailer could di better at 190 each fir Goodyears....looks like an expensive weekend...

The longest lasting sets of tires I've had were Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts. They had crappy wet traction, but did last 80,000+ miles on both of the Jeep Liberties my daughters drove. My Traverse is inching close to 40K miles with the original set of Goodyear Fortera HLs. They are OK tires, but I'm thinking about replacing them with the same type of Assurance Tripletred tires I put on the Jeeps after the Wrangler A/Ts wore out. In my opinion, the longest lasting tires don't necessarily give you the best ride or traction because the rubber compounds are hard, and the tred design very basic.

Pirelli P4s on the Fit about 50% left @ 45k. The original Dunlops were crap.

I've had good and bad results with Michelin, on the same vehicle, with the same model tire. I got them at a BJ's wholesale store and I half suspect that they were selling seconds. The price was like $50 cheaper than at the retail stores.

My father once said to take the tires off a new car and pitch them in the garbage. I believed him until our purchased new 99 Ford Tortoise managed 75K on the original Generals. I bought four more of the same then the coil spring broke and took the tire with it.

I agree that it true some of the time, but not always. It's my feeling that It probably occurs more on the lower models than on the higher models.
