Coming soon... the Ruptured Duck

FMS B-25, modified to B-25B, pictures coming soon.

I elected to modify Tondaleyo into Lt. Ted Lawson's B-25B, the Ruptured Duck.
This is my first foam aircraft (well almost). A buddy sent me a J3 Cub and I guess re-kindled, after many years, my interest in RC flying.

I may have bitten off more than I could chew. I guess we will find out soon!

Close up of Ted's nose art. I have spoken with his gunner David Thatcher a number of times. He told me the 1944 movie was as accurate it could be.

I have seen the movie countless times. You did a great job. Where did you get the nose art?

Yea there are a lot of changes in the B-25B/C and the J model.

How involved were the mods you had to do?

Yeah, same as the FMS. I am still looking for an antenna "football". I have vacuum formed some tail cones but none usable yet.

She does great work. Mr. Thatcher told me the relationship between the crew members on the movie was correct right down to him getting airsick all the time. It's my favorite war film.

I also used Callie for the artwork. She does a great job. It is also my favorite. I have 2 copies, one colorized.

I had a hard time choosing a color. There are so many variations of OD green out there. Mine is very similar to yours. (I think)!

You have to remove the "package guns" (below the cockpit) no waist guns or windows, move the top turret from the font to past rear center and the clear tail cone. I could not get the tail cone right so I left it off. Also there are Small side windows but not in the same location as the later models.

I used Model Masters in the small spray can. It's very close to the early war O.D.

Yeah, lots of mods. I did remove the guns up front, the waist positions and moved the turret to the rear position. I am in the process of adding the new waist windows. I did form some cones, but like I said, I was not happy with them. I will try again this weekend. I bought some different plastic to form.

I did add full flaps and a bomb bay. It seems the more I look at it, them more details I add or modify!

What is the wing span of yours?

It's 53 1/2 inches. I didn't do the flaps or bombbay to tell you the truth I never even thought about it but you got me thinking now. I have read that if I change to the FMS props I'll get better power from her.
