Sopwith, post #55 is what made me ask the question, lol.
I just spent the last 24 hours pondering covering materials and I think I'm going to sheet the wings. Actually, I am going to build two wings in a row - one sheeted and one Esky tissue. That way if the sheeted one weighs too much I have an out.

Where I'm getting stuck is that I didn't know I had years of wanting to do scale pent up inside of me. Spent five hours studying pictures and cut-aways trying to figure out whether the ailerons are top. middle or bottom hinged so that I can duplicate them accurately. Had to step back and try to start thinking stand-off scale, light weight, and making it flyable first.

I think as long as the model is in flyable condition and an attempt has been made to fly it (whether successful or not) its then up to the voting process to decide how it is scored.

I too am a scale wanna (I wanna everything to be as near to scale as possible) but common sense usually drags me back to what is achievable in he time. Otherwise I would have a shed full of never-will-be-finished models.

I've thought about this, too. On the side, I'm an artist and sculptor, in the literal sense. Though I deeply and sincerely admire the work of "serious scale" artists... for I see my planes as "sculptures that fly"... my work is admittedly more impressionistic.

Sopwith also ready for crash test, I mean maiden flight. Hopefully wifie can get video done ok. Gonna charge batteries right now. I even got caught up on some of my ARF mods and repairs today...

That is usually what I do too. Maybe I'll do a few laps around the circuit with the Cub to loosen up the phalanges.

Is that the little-known Sopwith Falange, an early but unsuccessful attempt at hand-powered flight?

Maiden flight complete... I had to have a fixed camera on a tripod. It's uploading and I'll see what's usable. Had a mechanical problem on second flight, as explained in the build log. I have some hours of repairs ahead of me but, nothing too horrible.
