Good man. Your time is worth more than you know, so don't waste it on stuff like trying to plank up an old elevator and get it airborne. Your money is beyond important since you don't have much (who does anymore?) so spend it wisely. Learn to fly with help from an instructor no matter which model you wind up with. You can likely teach yourself how to fly an indoor coaxial helicopter, but get help anyway. If you crash, you'll have to buy parts. Parts, of course, cost money and you want yours to go a long, long way.
That elevator thing is something you might want to try your hand at later on when you have some real experience. |

Cam,
Are you interested in other ways to fly beside radio control (r/c)? For a limited budget you can't beat Free Flight in it's many forms. Basically Free Flight is flying a model without radio control. The model is trimmed to fly on it's own once you launch it. It's cheap and fun and you will learn a lot about flying for your basic education. Try this link for some reading material on that subject...http://www.hippocketaeronautics.com/index.htm And here is another site for balsa rubber powered kits, (but stick with the beginners kits)...http://www.easybuiltmodels.com/ Just a couple to look at. There is a wide world of airplane modelling available to you out there. Keep asking questions. |
