Good point: If all those products were made in America, they'd be on shelves already.

I'd like to see the chain of events that led to clerical workers making 90k/year and how they determine the 'average' there. Somebody should've put the brakes on that mess a long time ago.

I'd also like to say that this might help convince people how bad it is to be dependant on overseas manufacturing, but if the Battle of the Atlantic couldn't do that I doubt that delaying some crappy plastic lawn chairs and the latest iPaidwaytoomuchforthis probably won't.

the main reason the union went on strike was to stop a plan to outsource their jobs overseas. ps the CEO of hostess is still collecting around $125,000.00 per month for the great job he did!!!

The links actually say the clerks were making 165000 per year, and they want to make 195K per year.
Good gawd! is this why everything is so expensive?
The dock workers must make a large sum as well.

Man give me the job at $150,000.00 with the paid vacation of the 2 1/2 months that they get now and I will move to Cal. I would quit my postal job and have only half the stress of some one looking over your shoulder all the time while they do nothing.

They are going to lose their jobs anyway, because the company likes to overpay them every year.

Believe NOTHING posted on the web. Anymore than there is a money cliff in DC.

Never will be money problems in the USA. We have Republican bussiness men in all the top government agencies. They will keep everything running smoothly as usual.

The strike ended at 2am yesterday morning, so we're moving container ships again.

I haven't seen the final list of the demands that were met by the shipowners, but the clerks had originally said no to a $163,000 compensation package and wanted something to the tune of $186,000 instead.

Another key sticking point is the clerks don't want any new technology introduced into the job unless they approve it first, i.e., they don't want to use a barcode reader on the containers, opting instead to hand write the container numbers onto a clipboard for later data entry, the reason for that is obvious...

I've always been perplexed what that term "job creators" always meant. Now I understand.

Job creators can also be having 2 people work for 4 hours a day with no benefits.

Wallmarts contribution to high paying jobs for handicapped people. Probably created a IRS kickback for each one they employ.

Well Bret Bielema is getting $3.2M a year for six years to coach at Arkansas. Plus the university is paying $1M to buy him out of his contract with UW. If a college football coach is worth that isn't a paper pusher worth six figures?

No, they aren't. Football coaches are paid that kind of money because of the revenue generated by a successful program at a big school. Winning football coaches aren't easily replaced, either.

I could care less about sports but the fact is Football is a huge business and pay fo those at the top reflect that.

I run, maintain, prepare samples for, and train people how to use electron microscopes in a University research lab/core facility, and I make 1/3rd of that.
