I was wondering if there are definitions of micro and sub-micro. Mini for example is <17.7inch (=450mm). What is considered micro subsequently sub-micro? It would be nice if there were some drives available for these two classes... I hope there is.

The size thing is an on going debate that will never end. As technology goes on, small becomes large and so on. When I suggested the forum, I was going to set the limit to 12" I believe, but 15" would get more people interested. That can be hull length or total length, which is yet another point. Now there is scale applications. That's a different thing though.

No, because that is your hypothesis. Not everyone will agree on it. For example. I think a sub-micro features a 5" (125mm) hull or less and a micro has a 10" (250mm) hull or less. I respect everyone else's opinion as I am sure most do, but we will still have our own opinion. And the keyword there is "opinion" which is pretty much worthless till official classes are established. We can't establish official classes with such a lower number of participants.

Wow! 5'' is really small, and so is actually 10''. The smallest build of my hands is currently 17.7inch.

I think the number of participants will increase when there are international competitions, consensus on class-size and LiPo weight-limits, and last but not least readily available drive-lines, props and motorcouplers. What about spare-parts of mini-z boats or micro boats of other commercially interested enterprises?

^ Yeah, what he said. Use K&S Brass tubing for the stuffing box for the shaft to ride in.

Some have even used the plastic handle of a cotton swab (Q-Tip) as a low cost stuffing box (they are hollow). I think a 1/16" shaft fits nicely.
