Things learnt

Garath and I had a short trip to the windfarm site xmas eve afternoon, and I must say thanks to all that helped us new bees in chch. This is the first flight after returning from down south and what a different light it put on what we were doing before, the circuits were miles to close to the face (lots of earth meeting models) and small circuits results in not as much speed.

The Mauler was great to fly, she wanted to go, but we kept it slow as it was still only the test plug. We need to get the molded one going for some good fun flying.

All the best to all for the xmas season, drive safe and enjoy the family time.

Sorry for the poor quality, it was taken on my phone.

Nice going Pope and Garath, Nice flying dude.
Looks like one of our sites. Over fences. But you don't have the trees and power lines right on the shear. Get some video of your other sites too when you go.

Hei Jono,
this could be interesting for you guys. A shame I didn't have a plane with me then.
I went with friends over the Rimutaka to Castle point. Have been there for fishing over 30 years ago.
But now looking at that place with different eyes.
This could be a great place for DSing marked with blue spot in a SW wind. Not sure if anyone would dear to DS on the SE slope marked with red.
According to Google it must be well over 100m on the red slope and just under 100 on the blue slope. Looks like there is a track at the right top edge of the picture.
Maybe one of you guys has already tried it out?
Cheers
Knut

Have always wondered about that spot, shame it is quite far away from the main centres

I think someone has previously posted on r groups about DSing that spot at castlepoint. Its quite a drive from Wellington for us, but it does look good.

Sitting at work with the CNC whirring away, and have just read this thread through from start to finish.

Ahhhhhh..... What a great few weeks that was. Getting very serious withdrawel symptoms.

Was so great meeting so many great guys and sharing unforgettable moments with them..
