Thanks Tom! I am only getting a few hours here and there to work on it but should be ready near the holidays. Get your camera ready BTW, the shorts comment was for you.

Harry, did you get RealFlight simulator? There is a Wyvern for it.

I purchased this kit a while back. I just wanted to know if anyone has built it with a gas engine. I have a DLE55 but the shaft is not really long enough to clear the long cowl. It sure looks like the electric motor would be the way to go. I just do not want to cut the cowl up to make my short shaft engine fit.

It would be a shame to cut up the cowl, go for the electric. Funny, but I have not seen much other than electric threads with the Wyvern.

I will just have to get a bigger motor. I have a E-Flite power 1.60 but I am not sure it is big enough.

There are some videos on Youtube of gas engine powered versions but they all have grotesque looking cutouts on the cowling. There is one however, with a Laser 300 Twin and he did not have to cut up the cowl. Electric motor on a 'turboprop' model actually sounds better anyway, and this is coming from a diehard glow engine guy.

I don't think that would fly - so to speak.

Did you purchase this from GravesRC in Orlando? They had one in stock until recently, but now it's gone.

I think BH makes a smaller version of this same plane...20cc size IIRC.

Good luck with the build, I wish I had a field large enough for planes like this...

I purchased it at Hobby People but they do not carry it anymore and got the last one in California. I am lucky to have a large field very near me, Apollo Field. The main runway in 80' x 600' and you see all kinds of A/C there. It is a public field so I only fly during the week, weekends are crazy and can be a free for all.

Harry, if you're ready to give up the support vehicle under those huge boxes, I'm here to clear it out for ya!

P.s. - can't see enough to tell year.... Could it be a '63?

It's a 1966 427 BB. My garage is so overloaded with projects and can't believe I am putting boxes on the body (it's on a dolly) as this is the way I found the car after sitting for over 30 years. I am in the middle of restoration and as soon as I finish the Wyvern, I will jump back on the car so I can make room for another plane The car was a real barn find stored locked in a garage with boxes piled high on it (like you see here) and I am the second owner. Numbers matching, all original and that is what it will be when I finish. Thanks for the interest.

Cheers,

Harry

You got me going. Here are a few photos. These are about 1 1/2 years old. My son without hair is SF deployed in Afghanistan and is coming back 2/13 : The other one is a Neuroscience major at a UC school Wish we had more time together. I am so proud of both of them. They just want to work on the Vette with me.
