Sharpie brand colored permanent markers work really well to add some distinction to your bird.

Is it necessary to mod this at all for the hand launch as seen in the video?

Good question... what keeps the foam from wearing out where you hold onto it when flinging?

Threw the alula around while waiting for some batteries to charge on my Cub. Hooked a couple thermals with flights of 2:33, 2:46 and a 3:17. Not bad for a foamy!

I put my Alula together yesterday morning. The directions included are very good. Almost too much detail if there is such a thing. I used the recommended battery and servo's it needed 1/2oz of led to balance. I test flew mine into a tree on my first hard toss. I meant to throw it in front of me but it looped behind me into the one tree anywhere around me. I had to grab a branch and shake the tree like a mad man to get it down. It was stuck right at the top about 15 feet up. I stripped one of the servo's when I tossed a stick at it to knock it down.

How long have I been in this hobby? You'd think I would know better.

Oh well I'll wait for the replacement servo to give it another try.

does anyone else hate the included grip tape? i find that it destroys my fingertips(read: sands the skin right off). i found that a piece of gorilla tape on the top and bottom worked really well and got me just as good if slightly lower launch heights. now i put in a launch peg though and it's way better, i get much higher launches with the same amount of effort. i highly recommend putting in a launch peg.

Did the throwing peg add enough weight to need any counter-balance on the opposite wing or any trim to give level flight?

it's pretty simple i used a piece of 5mm X "thin"(i don't know exactly what thickness it is) and i wrapped some fiberglass around it in the shape of those "honor the veterans" magnets that you put on your car.
be careful if you do this mod, it's not quite as simple as grip it 'n rip it, it takes a bit more practice.

overmyhead:
i didn't add any weight to the opposite wing and i didn't notice any difference.

Michael Heer brought his out the the Arizona electric festival today. Very cool looking glider. Thanks Michael for taking the time to bring yours out. Time for me to pick one of these up.
