A New Durex or Minnesota Floatah
Been going to make one for years like 25 or more the time has come it is getting done ..1st photo is night 1 and the #2 photo is night 2....hopefully by night 3 the wings will be ready for sanding ....Bob Hansing is the guy that got me into sailplanes back in the late 70's ...Timed for Bob many times ..He always did well in the contest ..Always like the looks of the Durex V and the way it flew...So now is the time to have one of my own...I will keep posting more photos on how is comeing ...

This is the first Ive heard of this model. Do you have any specs you can post? Weight, span, area, etc?

Night 3 here still a day or 2 before ready for sanding but coming along Both off the board LE and spoilers and wing rod tubes next ..will how tomorrow goes...

Wow Mr. Kite, you are a really fast builder. What you have in those last two pictures would have taken me weeks if not months to do. At this rate you will have this beauty ready to fly at the MRCSS New Years Day freeze fly.
 What are you going to use for a main wing rod? That looks like a lot of wing for just your standard 1/4" piano wire.Wayne |

Wing Rod
Bob used to bend the wing rods all the time ...I'm going with an 3/8" Ejector pin...http://www.vintagesailplaner.com/index.html ..I'm not a LEAD FOOT Guy so should be ok....The fus is going to take some longer....

Maybe my eyes (and the small pix) deceive me, but that looks like you are using a different airfoil than the original Durex. I'm looking forward to seeing your 'Minnesota Flotah'! -Ben |

Did not get much done on wings today ..just wing rod tubes put in ...while wiating for epoxy to set up got most of tail together....

Night 6 got the rudder and fin together Laminated alot of parts to make it stiff but light...did a fast count 54 pices +3 hinges ....
