I was kinda feeling the same, but the pictures I had were telling me otherwise.

I did find another image (the green one)and overlayed it on the one I was building off of. Nacelles are slightly smaller in that one. I'll modify it a bit and see if that looks any better

Alright, redid the nacelles based on the other image, making the outer diameter of the nacelle ~0.37in less in diameter. Definitely looks better

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

I'm probably going to release the cut files for free as long as people will share their build and help with giving this a shakedown to find design flaws (too heavy, bad flight tendencies, wing rips off in flight )

Awesome, that is much appreciated.
I have a three stage goal - fly my trainer - build and fly an A-10 ARF - then build my own A-10.
Learning process for us noobies, but I am just collecting info as I go along while I learn and get setup.

I've been working on the control surface movements and fixing any issues to make sure everything will move freely come time for the build. I originally played with a curved slot track for the fowler flaps, but found that two straght slots work, and are very simple to design.

also added the LE stats. Not sure if will just have these as static, or deploy with flaps (although, they were only operated during high AOA and I think when the GAU-8 was fired)

Removable wing section is mostly complete. Still need to include the shear webs and do mounts for servos and landing gear.

For a plane of this size, whats a good size for shear webs and spars? Currently I have shown 1/4" spars (spruce), and the shear webs will be 1/8" balsa. Is this overkill?

now that's kick a$$. I'd go for one of those. I believe it's HK that sells this version and it looks awesome with invasion stripes.

DD for someone that is just training and looking to move up
to an A-10 your drawing and design is awesome, you must have
done a lot of research into model design techniques and are a
first rate CAD draftsman to boot. Will definately be subscribed
and looking forward to what is coming down the pipeline. Keep
up the good work it is enjoyable to read and follow.

Yea, HK sells the 2 seater. almost picked it up last month but then I realized i still had 3 planes i needed to finish assembling.

I might be able to set up the planes so it can be an easy conversion between the one-seater, to the N/AW version. Only difference is the tail surface extends higher, and of course, the cockpit area. That way you can hotswap the A-10 at the field between the two versions if you want.

Thanks for the compliments. I have spent tons of time on research for this plane since i'm a bit picky about making this as scale as possible. A lot of the modeling design I learned by myself, and picked up a few other techniques from others on this site.

that's a great idea. I had the same idea with my Sepecat Jaguar. simply remove the single seat nose section and replace with the twin seat nose. multiple choices in one aircraft.
