Deck eyes

Need some more deck eyes but the ones I've had all came with old kits from years ago. Is there any place to buy these things? Pete
Click the picture for a better look. The eyes are 1/16th round and the whole thing is 9/16ths long and made of brass wire.

Plenty of eye bolts to be found but those looks simple enough to make yourself. What kind of connection, Pete?

I use stainless piano wire and brass rod to make the same sort of eyes.

The stainless wire will hold more load than the brass. It also helps to put two turns on the eye loop.

The brass can be soldered to make closed eyes that don't spread open under load.

Left unsoldered, you can slip on items link a key ring as needed.

A pair of round nose pliers will pay for themselves pretty quick - brass rods' much cheaper than pre-made eyes.

I'm sticking these into drilled holes along the sides of the deck on my Megan O'Keefe model and running a 1/16th wire through the eyes for hand rails. My camera is broken so I can't post a picture. I'd rather buy these pieces than try to make them as I want them to all look alike along the rail. I had accumulated a 'whole bunch' of these eyes from old sailboat kits and they work perfectly for this railing but now I need about 80 more of them. One goes every half inch for four feet. I'm 80 short.

Deck eyes

Morning, Billings USA has some that might work, if not Model Dockyard and Cormwall Models have wider selections.

Billings has copper pieces as well.

Tim I saw those at Billings but they look too big and too thick to match the others. I'll try the other two and thanks to all for the links and suggestions. pete
