David the laser stuff you're doing is going to be simple to ship as with the cowl and the canopy the Doug is working on .....I have a feeling that the majority of the cost of this is going to be wrapped up in shipping on my end.... hopefully we can strategize to cut down on the cost of freight as much as possible I should have finished dimensions at the weekend to know where and how much transport cost there will be.for.our brothers not so geographicly desirable.

Ok... I am ready to heat the wire and start cuttin on this foam billett.
This is a complex bird. There is a total of 7 pieces... decks front and rear, stab, wing, fin ect.
It will be interesting to see how small we can box it for shipping.

How many players in the first pass ? I think I can get 5 out of this billett.

Do we want to cut for no leading edge stock ?
I think we can make it easy on the wing... the tail may split....

I rolled the dice and ended up sanding back for a block on my decpetion tails...... which way do you guys want to go ?

I would love to be included in this kit production run. Let me know if that is possible and thanks to all for helping keep classic pattern alive.

Kevin,

I'd say go for the 5 sets. Three are a given and there are at least 3-4 other interested parties.

No LE stock on wings, block cut on stab and fin. Wrapping the tail feathers might just be a little too much to ask from the wood without multiple molding passes.

Time to Order!

Ok guys, David, Kevin and I now have a handle on the costs of all the parts and can therefore put a price on this "short kit." We are prepared to put together more than our two kits if we have takers.

This is not a profit venture as we are just covering our costs. We just want to share with anybody who loves the Super Chipmunk 120s like we do.

We are only going to do this once so order now or never.

Deadline to order is 2/10/13 at midnight PST

The short kit will include:

* Laser cut fuselage including all interlocking formers, plates, fuse sides & doublers, fuse bottom & top and turtle deck front & rear foam cores.

* Wing, stab and fin tips with 1/32” ply keels.

* Wing, horizontal and vertical stab foam cores. They will be feather cut (including elevators & rudder) and set up for 1/32" balsa sheeting. The leading edge of the wing will be radiused for sheeting. (See picture below) Tail feathers will be LE block cut for balsa caps to be sanded to shape.

* You will provide your own 1/32" sheeting for all foam cores. Other minor sheet stock (1/16” mostly) may be required for control surface end caps and cockpit floor. 3/16” square balsa and dowel stock will also be required to complete the fuse.

* Clear canopy

* Fiberglass chin cowl

* A plan (2 sheets) will also be included

We are going to require a 50% deposit via Paypal to confirm your order. Shipping will be billed at actual cost. You will receive the laser cut wood kit from Canada and cores, canopy and cowl from California.

We expect to ship as soon as the kits are ready but we expect no later than the end of March.

Please PM me for pricing.

Doug

This is a message for David Chang.

I sent you an email but I'm not sure I'm reaching you. Please contact Doug for pricing if you are still interested in a kit.

Hi,
Now it is 5 persons since I payed the deposit yesterday for the short kit.
Thanks to David's and Doug's work and my small contribution (I supplied the original drawing that was used as template for the CAD work by David, plus the original canopy and cowl for copies) this seems to be a very nice short kit.
So get this "limited edition" while You can before the order window is closed, as mentioned by Doug in post #53 above.
