The answer is no. The motor in this $50 servo can't be pulled out without damaging it. Maybe the motor terminals can be soldered to some wire to apply more force to it. Those right angle traces are things you don't see every day.
Using the servo pots to detect where they're pointed would be nearly as accurate as an IMU for determining camera angle.
The IMU for camera pointing is a buster to implement & configure, but it is the most accurate measuring device. It would eliminate all methods besides PWM if it didn't improve the accuracy.
The process of integrating the IMU & ground station on the camera mount is long & hard. Future soldering & development has to be done on the floor, with a portable iron & laptop. The quest for an ideal bench has never yielded anything. Eevblog seems to have the ideal bench for electronics, but not for a computer.
