The mini-series is 2 episodes and that's all. The last scene of episode 2 left it open to move on to a series. I hope they do because I liked it... a lot!

Women as pilots? why not. We have them today! The idea that only men can be warriors is a throw back. Given this is a more advanced society, female pilots makes sense.

I liked the redesign on the Centurions... better looking than the old chrome plated cans. The Cylon ships being Cylons themselves was a smart move as well. I also like the demonstration of emotion that #6 often displayed. Looks like human emotions sneaked in during the design phase of these more advances Cylons. Should be quite something when Boomer 'comes out of the closet' given she's in love with the Chief!

The cast reflects a huge shade of gray rather than only black vs white / good vs bad the original series offered.

My biggest worry is about the cast. If they move on to a series and recast it with others, will it be as good or just fade away?

Dave

My take on #6 is a little different. I don’t think her display of emotion was real. I think she was exploiting Boltars emotions to the max. Given Boltars personality, what better way to do it. I see boomer doing the same thing. One of our biggest weaknesses is right between the legs.

Another question. When #6 woke Boltar and his friend up in his bedroom, was his friend the same model as boomer? I know she was Asian, but was she a cylon.

I was a big fan of the original, but face it, it doesn't hold up with time.

This was much better. The CGI was top notch, the backstory more believable, the physics actually plausible.

The first version had one note characters, and a lame Bad V. Good simplistic universe. Pretty fracking stupid if one is over 19 years old.

Give me complex characters with ambiguous intentions any day. That's human drama.

A friend of a friend cut the sound, and from what she said, the mini series was meant to stand alone, but they will pay attention to the numbers, so maybe...

I noticed commercials for BG xbox and PS games. I'm sure there will be toys and action figures, books, posters, etc. If they went to that extent thay must have a series in mind.

Not according to the director, the Picture Editor, or the Sound Supervisor. As I said, Sci Fi said that they would be watching the ratings, but there are no plans at this time to produce a series. The sets were struck, the writers & Ronald Moore are on to other projects. None of the actors were optioned.

If the #s are there though, it would be nice to see.

BTW, the Xbox & PS2 game revolve around Adama's early career, and not this era.

I liked it quite a little bit. True some of the acting isn't perfect (wooden) and it lacks a certain polish but over all it is pretty good. Many times when a series is brand new the actors are a little stiff, but with time they get better. I'm hoping this is one of those times.

If they had some prissy chick as a pilot I would call foul but that actress that plays Starbuck is pretty sturdy. No complaints here.

I like the Cylons having several forms and I love what they did with Baltar. He is creepy in a wonderful new understandable way. The old Baltar didn't add up. The new one is much better.

No need to mention that I'd crawl naked thru 10 miles of broken glass and rusty nails for the Cy-vixen. "You mean all I have to do is kill everybody else in the world and we can be together? Done!"

I give it a thumbs up ...

Although I never cared for the original series, I really enjoyed the two episodes so far. I think the direction is quite good and it had some intensely dramatic scenes that really got under my skin.

I hope it does go into series mode. It would be a nice change from Enterprise - which as much as I want to like it, I'm just not getting into it like I did TNG.

Sick, but honest...

ms Helfer also has a spread in Maxim magazine this month that you may wish to sample...

couple things,

1. why have everyone act so cool as the world literally ends ? or in their case 12 worlds ?

2. Baltar needlessly frames up a guy to point out the Cylon technology, then it turns out the guy really is a Cylon ? Huh ? what was the point of this ? He already said he was hangin with the Clylons and felt guilty helping them, could have said he saw a similar object at that time, so what.

Battlestar Galactica? I thought we were discussing Erin Gray. Know how Homer Simpson says "dooooouuuughhhnuttttttts....?"

Errrrrrrrinnnnn Grrrrrrraaayyyyy.....!!!

I always thought the babe that played the high ranking female lizard in the TV miniseries V was pretty hot, too.

It was OK. I would rather have the characters changed back to males. A female starbuck smoking cigars looks retarded. There was also too much of the usteady camera zoom in/out type thing. I also agree with the points megatron made.

I don't care one way or another about the changes from the original.

But what I do mind is boredom, and that's what this show evoked in me. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it. At 10:10 pm (i.e., 70 minutes in) I gave up!

My dad likes Battlestar as much as he likes Stargate SG-1, and he really likes SG-1.

I just can't bring myself to watch it as I don't think I
can handle a female Starbuck.

PC or no PC Starbucks character should be a man.

But every time I start to delete it from the Tivo a voice says
in the back of my head. "Just watch it it might be good".

I prefer things to remain true to the original. This is too great a departure for me.
Speaking of Erin Gray and Buck Rogers, That series was really cheesy (yes I watched it).
I like complexity and drama as much as anyone. Absolutely loved Star Trek DS-9.
I had to change the channel when Adama gave a speech about defending freedom (rather Bush-like) and then started in with how people still murder, are greedy, etc.

It's so good to see someone else liked DS-9. I much preferred it to Voyager (To boldy go where everyone else had sense to avoid)!

Chakote: Look, Captain! There's an anomaly that's screwing up all our instruments, plus there's a warning buoy.

Janeway: Let's see how close we can get!
