I pulled the trigger for a new mCPX BL:
Blade mCP X Brushless (BL) BNF New

And no - I'm not good in 3D flight - still have to learn a lot.
Much simulator time involved there, too.
But for "regular", scale-like flying my skills are good enough now.

In terms of electronics, the complexity is immense. But mechanically,
there is really nothing to them.
+1 in general but the point being boring

and now back to topic: Heli - 9116 in this case if I remember right...

omg hahaha i love the mcdonalds mod now you need a little spinning light on top hahaha

What will you get? An underpowered old design bird with more cons than pros built in.
You'll have to pump more money in it to keep it airborne.
It will not teach you much.
It won't fly good in stock configuration.

I would have sold mine long ago if there weren't very personal reasons to keep them.

Instead spending 40 bucks to mod it - take the 40, sell the rest of your 9100 for 5 or 10 dollars and invest in some learning tools:

or, if you want to do some footage ( or buy additional remote gadgets like rocket launcher, hook/wind, water cannon....)
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Wl...2-p-59263.html
These quads handle some winds, give any CP this size a run for their money in manoeuvrability, are cheap to keep, hard to destroy, as crashproof as you can imagine.
Great learning tools to step ahead to CP.
And later, if you are confident enough, maybe you will be ready for this:
Blade mCP X Brushless (BL) BNF New (2 min 51 sec)
Blade mCPX BL. With Hamish Scott (4 min 31 sec)

(Sorry Steve, after reading of your BL- plans I ordered one, couldn't resist - this will be my second CP)

-mike-

Thanks for your detailed reply, I appreciate it!

I have the servos, swash and buckle sets, just not the rx/tx. Getting the receiver is not an issue but seems no one has a transmitter in stock. I used the swash from a 9116 and two turnigy 1440a servos so that I could get a better forward and reverse. Worked great and hovered perfectly as long there was no breeze.

I'm not interested in quads, sorry. I like the heli's and planes. Eventually I like to get a kit, either a 250 or 450 size to have some fun with. Been looking at the mini's but just not sure what to get yet. Would be nice to get one where the transmitter I could use it with other heli's but that may be wishful thinking.

I had fun with the 9100 beating it around. The pcb's on these things just can't handle that main motor for to long it seems. Everything else is fine, just the pcb is fried. Motors and battery checked out ok.

The pcb started going out over the house. I noticed wasn't reacting to my commands very well and it landed on my roof where there was some leaves that gathered around that side of my house. Went to get a ladder and came back and noticed it smoking. Thought the house was getting ready to burn down.

You have a computer that can mix them independently

to know which is better for the given stick input.
Was already done:
MIT ACL - Variable Pitch Quadrotor (2 min 54 sec)

Yes the heli was crashed and I also replaced the rotor head blade attachment piece. Which item would / could be that giro?? Is that a separate piece or is that a component on the board? Is that a FRU?? Hey . I know my sh*t... FIELD REPLACEABLE UNIT ( if you were scratching your head) :-)
No luck so far. I opened up my other 9116 and compared them to make sure I had not put some pieces back wrongly but that does not seem to be the case. I'l keep checking but I assume that the next step would be a complete new PC board. Is that a correct assumption??

Check for shorts, and bad sections of wire. If you have an ohm meter,

My motor has about 20 flights.

All of my stock tail motors are burned up, so I don't have one to
measure, but the Honey Bee direct drive measures 4.9 ohms.
That means the motor is shot too. It only measures out at 0.7 ohms. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Tail motor is fine. The mosfet for the main motor burnt to crisp.

I should of put a .25 cent fuse on it. I'll probably just replace those parts and get me something better.
