the throttle also seems really jumpy and cant keep the heli at a constant height. it either climbs or drops but never sits still.. is this normal (indoors even)?? i read that theres a dead spot in the stick.. maybe thats the problem?
It is a known bug - hard to keep it float - you have to counteract early on and play with the throttle - try fixing the dead spot like Steve mentioned - it will help a bit. This bird isn't built to do fine measured hover anyway. So don't expect too much in accuracy.

just been practicing outside again.. you have to FIGHT the wind, but man its a zippy little bird.. im getting better at tweaking the throttle and figure now i have it adjusted as neat and tidy as i can, ill start fooling around more with the tx trim and epa stuff

thanks for the help with the voltage buzzer mike.. got it going fine and man is it an asset. nice and loud. the way it measures both cells, it highlights the need for a balancer. i just have the stock DH charger and batteries

Hi Gygax,
I'm not relying on the stock charger too much, even though it's supposed to be a balanced charger.
The "Screamer" voltage checker shows 1 cell @ 4.26 Volts & t'other @ 4.63 Volts.
Way too high.
My DMM says about the same.

Will wait till my iMax balanced charger arrives before any more attempts at flying.
I have 3 x 850mAh Li-Po's sitting in my tool box but I ain't letting them anywhere near that stock charger.

Be careful when you adjust the EPA's. Remove the servo arms & check the max travel first.
After re-connecting the push rods, start low & go up slowly.

Steve, Does the "burst into flames" ref; to the original Li-Ion as well?
All new to me.
& I've read that the "salt water disposal" is not really the way to go.

I've just got the yachties used to Ni-cads & Ni-Mh & now they're converting to Li-Po's.

They just chuck them on the top of their car engines & set the charger & continue sailing.

I at least, bought a supposedly, safe bag for charging them & I've got a "genuine" iMax B6 AC coming.

You probably already know this, but just in case you don't. Take precautions when cutting carbon fiber. The dust is really nasty and you definitely don't want to breathe any and get those little nasty shards in your lungs. I keep the hose of my shop vac right next to the cut-off wheel when cutting it.

My next recommendation:
Get a sim!
I'm playing a little around with phoenix 4 and my Th9X since yesterday - it is really great for heli flying.

move it - heat up with a soldering iron and use pincers to shove it up a bit.

There are lots of older threads on the Li-Po battery safety & disposal subject.

Vicious beasties aren't they?
Wonder who thought that using lithium batteries in consumer products was a good idea?
