If you do decide to glue yours like I did, be aware that if anything goes
wrong, you will be buying a new TX. You cannot get glue out of a
surface mount potentiometer.

Next step is a Turnigy 9x.
Good job Steve! I'll be tearing into mine tonight. Great idea with the extra rechargeable battery too.

Yup, I defintely killed two of my Li-po packs and learned the hard way. A voltage alarm has been ordered and is on the way now.

Btw, love that tx battery mod, Steve. Very well executed!

Might come in handy if I can find somewhere to stick it on the Tx.
The high pitched alarm is hard to hear outside, (not like the low voltage unit), so it may just get used for timing my eggs.

None of my "very important" parts have arrived yet.

I don't think that the twin motor pack that I ordered is the Extreme one.
These came from AFC Systems via Heliparts-AFC. (Please rectify/verify if you know.)

I think Steve wants to try the "B" motor & I've had a request for the "A" one.

If the tests return good results & I can't see why they wouldn't, I might buy a few more sets.

I also bought a couple of heat sinks. The 28 mm ones fit nicely after a slight tweaking & snipping of their extremities.
HK do have a 24 mm version as well.
NB: The stated weight of 17 gm is wrong. The 28 mm one only come in at 3.4 gm.

Another motor, Steve?
At least the fully functioning MOPS cct saved the PCB etc.

re; The tail wag.
I'm pretty sure mine was down to a failing....failed tail motor.
Tail assy has been replaced & am waiting for the weather to co-operate.
I did notice that the booms fit into the plastic moulding was a lot tighter than the original.

& I did the same check as Pa flyer in post #1008, with a new hollow pipe, bearing & housing assy & I found no play.
I re-did the check on 3 other new parts & they were the same. No play in any.

I doubt that the "Very Holey Heatsink" would inhibit the air flow too much Steve.
The pic doesn't show them well.

Address so noted.

& I think that you'll find that with the smaller, 24 mm one, the un-vented section will block more of the motor slots
than the 28 mm one.
It won't "go far enough around the motor" to clear them.

Steve, ever thought about making a Nascar vent instead of the heatsink?? That would save weight . Have a look at the link. Note: the round funnel end is the INSIDE , the vent guides air from a flush opening on the outside where the airflow is. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NEW-NACA-w...vxp=mtr&_uhb=1

we also have some good flying weather coming up in the next few days here in western washington and 3 of my 4 birds are ready to go so i am ready. i finally received my batt charger for my v 911 after 38 days, so thats ready to go, one of my two 9116's is in perfect rebuilt condition ( thanks to help from people on this site ) and the parts for the other are on the way, and my brand new v 949 has the water bottle canopy and a camera mounted on it ( ive only flown it once and cant wait for some more airtime ) i am going to work this weekend so i can get tues off wich is supposed to be the best day and im gonna do a bunch of heli flying !!!!

The move from fp to cp is an interesting area. I am in the transition and noticing there are two camps with regard to pitch and throttle curves, which seems to be the major area of contention.

Moving from a 9116 to a cp heli can be a big step, but it can also be easy perhaps?

If there is anyone in this process, if so what throttle & pitch curves are you adopting?

Turnigy 1440A servos

Those of you that are using the Turnigy servos: what do you think of them? Are they a worthwhile upgrade over the stock servos? Do they have less slop in the geartrain?

Any body using something else that you think is better and is the same size? I don't want to have to modify the sideplates to accept them.
