if you look at postings under the "no more smashed pcbs" thread,,,I posted pics. of the mods I did.
Out of logical sense, I put the pcb tucked away and had no ill gyro effects or r.f. interference at all, many, many (a lot) of flights later, I still have the original pcb the old crow came with. I you look at the batt mount system I made, I just mount the batt higher for more agressive flying, and lower it for more stability ( c.g. shifting) aside from the tail motor mods I still need to do,I modded it up with scraps of stuff and hand fab. things and have a blast flyin it....- note:all the wires were resoldered and are facing the front of the bird so the wires are away from the main gear... |

Went and did it
Well I went and moved the pcb under the motor. The gyro is exactly 1/2" in front of the main shaft. It's a little further back and lower than the position simz has his mounted. The front edge (which was previously the back edge) of the pcb is in line with the front screw of the outer side plate.
I was a little worried that it might be tail heavy, but it's not. It had a heavy drift to the left that it didn't have before the mod, but I trimmed it out at the swashplate and it hovers fine. Tomorrow I'll try it outside and take some pictures to post. I think probably the concerns over the gyro not working right due to repositioning are unfounded. At least I hope they are!

lalalala
sorry steve I have not posted in awile been to busy flyin and tending to the frostbite on my fingers (they need to come up with heated sticks on the Tx. like having heated seats or steering wheels in cars)
![]() like you said, I have more aggro. on the ailerons with the batt. mounted higher- with it mounted lower, it has more weight forward and better forward flight and more stable.....it seems to be a trade off as to what kind of flyin your up for.. all mods I have made have no ill effects (i.e. tail wag ect. ect.) and I still have the orig. main motor and tail motor and pcb. the bird came with still installed((((knock on wood---till my knuckles bleed)))) -I spent more on gas driving to parks to fly at than I spent on the mods I made.. will gladly share the other mods I have done as that this is what this thread is for. --pooling our collective thoughts together for a better outcome.. ![]()
