I hope you don't have too big a battle scar.
I had a similar experience when mine tried to get too close but I managed to duck & grab it's undercart before any contact occurred.

Pilot error involved there though.
lmfao it wasnt the 9116 that did the damage it was the 450 of mine

A warm welcome from me too, Nicke!

As Rajah235 said, yo'll be a new entry on our maso-heli-list!

As described in post 1, you may post every picture, quality doesn't matter - as 9116 flyers we all are accustomed to anything less than perfect.

Well thank you Steve and Rajah ;-)

I did to drill the top shaft cuz I read that you did in a post way back, but I got it straight ;-) and for the next part that breaks I will try to make that one to more durable.

I've done a few upgrades as removing the tail "support", lighten the bottom plastic with drill holes, removing on/off switch, mounted homemade heat sink, moving battery back.
Mounted a fan on the charger, made a battery chargebox, and so on... ;-)

Next I will do the DD tail upgrade and ball bearing supported mixing arms :-)
But wich tail upgrade is the best? Syma or Esky? And were do I get the custom mixing arms?

Tuning is half the fun in RC!

batt. moved more forward and lower on its perch..
trims are all 0 and swash is slightly forward ((alot of tweaking with weight dist. to get the swash that way-----dont want to lose range of motion by elec. trim adjustments)) which equals full cyclic throws of swash....

p.s. contrary to what is said about the n60 motor ,,,it works perfect (no wag and real good head lock) just let things cool down between batt. changes...
p.s.s- I went threw at least 11 batt. packs in full hover only mode for testing purposes,,,good so far(knock on wood)
Just brilliant! I don't know which part of this mod I like more, the balanced motor mount, or the little landing wheel.

Thank you Mike, I'll try to post my pics tomorrow :-)

/Nicke

Ps. glad to find this forum cuz here in Sweden folks don't talk and discuss stuff that's not top notch... If you ask about tuning a cheap Heli you just the answer "Get a real one!" or "Why bother?" if you even get a answer.. :-P

Test flight

Flew the 9116 this afternoon with the 1.5 to 1 mixing arms and I like the improvement. As Steve said, the pendulum effect is gone and ff banked turns are much better. It does still climb when heading into the breeze and it takes more forward cyclic to keep it down but that's to be expected I guess.

An unexpected bonus was the fact that I could use lighter balance bar weights thereby reducing rotational mass and have it respond like it did with heavier weights and the stock mixing arm.

The body does still dip forward or rearward with cyclic input. Steve had mentioned that his didn't seem to dip as much anymore, but I noticed in his post #1648 that his battery is mounted lower than mine, which would account for the difference.

I was originally concerned that with the mod I would lose blade pitch movement, but that turned out not to be the case as they still contact their stops.

All in all I'd say this is a worthwhile upgrade.

Think my tail motor is about dead. Measures out at 1.2ohms now. Started with a tail wag then eventually started spinning out of control unless I backed off the throttle.
