Finally got my 9100 back up in the air. The 9104 pcb works just fine except the mounting holes are an inch forward than the original pcb. Nothing a little plastic and velcro can't fix. So if you guys run out of pcb's for the 9116, I'm pretty sure the ones from the 9117 would work for you guys. Bigger mosfets that can handle the amp draw.

I had to get a new motor, pcb, eflite 2s 800mah 30c battery. Added a 15amp blade fuse. 9116 lower swash plate with upper 9104 swash with two turnigy 1440a servos. Flys great.

It took a dirt dive from 150ft up, I got to cocky and forgot about range. Nothing broke this time. Just a little dusty.

And this is with a bad servo !!

I can't imagine what it will fly like with a good servo that does not
twitch all the time.

It still noses up on forward flight, but it's better, and seems to do it
less. There was 5 to 8 mph gusts, and it seems to have much more
"bite" when flying into the wind.

I made some beautiful banked turns, and they were way sweeter than
the F645 turns I was making the other night. My 9116 isn't as fast on
top speed, but it turns in 1/4 the radius.

When I was fighting a breeze to bring it back to me, and the breeze
shifted, it was not the end of the world, and it was not impossible
to fight the shifting wind patterns.

Also, the blades sound much meaner and louder now.
That makes no sense, as this mixing arm mod should reduce pitch.
But what is really happening is you are giving the pitch more force
to hold up against a breeze (such as forward flight).

At a hover, and lower speeds, the balance bar does not need much
torque on the blades to keep thinks in control.

But when you are going 15 Mph into a 5 Mph headwind, the head and
blades see 20 Mph.

Think of what a sudden 20 Mph gust would do if you were hovering,
and how much force it would put on the blades. Heck, a 20 Mph gust
would probably toss a 9116 or F645 into the next town.

Anyway, for having a bad servo, this thing flies like a dream
And that was with an unbalanced head. Since installing the new
head parts I still have yet to balance it, and will when I change
the servo. It will fly even more awesome with a functional servo,
and a balanced head that does not shake.

I think either 1.5:1 or 2:1 mixing arms will be perfect. The ones I'm
using now (Wasp V3) are just barely offset, and somewhere around
1.25:1 as there is under 2mm difference between sides.

You can barely see the offset, and I had to measure it to tell
the difference.
Good stuff. Too bad you're not working for DH, Steve_!

Question about settings. When I'm in flight it doesn't want to drift left. When I'm testing it the servos are moving like they should but in flight it doesn't drift or drifts slowly. What do I need to adjust to fix this. In hover it does drift to the right so I adjusted the sub trim to help that.

took my ol 9116 out for a spin today didnt fly to bad. I was very sluggish after i tigtened up the head..I ended up breaking the landing skid clean off one side in a hard landing put a new one on.Went flying again till the second battery was dead then decided to mess with my 450...soooo long and behold my 450 kicked my butt the esc decided it wasnt going to give me throttle imput and opened up at 100 percent causing the heli to come at me and the tail blades chewed on my face and nose and thumb...

is it possible to bind both 9116 helis to the same remote? I've tried and it doesn't seem to work... any advise? (If I buy another remote would that resolve the issue?)

i dont think its range.. maybe interference to the rx from being right under the main motor? it is quite random and intermittant

I was having the same motor cutout problem a few weeks back. I changed out all the electrical components and even did the MOPS bypass without any luck. Then I realized it only happened when I flew on one side of my house and near the neighbors house and a transformer on the pole. Someone on this thread mentioned that the neighbor could have a wireless router or phone near a window and it turned out that they did. That was my problem: outside interference. I don't fly in that area anymore and the problem went away.

Not saying that this is the cause of your problem, just that it's something to consider.

yeah i read your old posts about it with interest.. the problem sounded exactly the same..

turns out it was most likely a shonky solder though.

i removed the protective blutak layer from under the rx and on top of the gyro, (which i thought was a brilliant idea to cushion and anchor them).. and i also resoldered EVERY connection on the pcb till they were shiny and at least halfway neat.

now she rips

i HIGHLY recommend lowering the pcb and raising the battery onto a 'crashplate' at the front. the lifting of the centre of gravity gives it really good response and handling. im going back out now to tackle the 10-15 kmph wind

For sheer eargasmic pleasure, my modded 9116 sounds way better and
meaner than the huge F645.

Pa knows
lmao..
steve i think you and pa are the co-founders.

yeah, its one of the finest sounds ive heard. i think mine cuts the air so sweetly, i can only imagine how it sounds with cropped blades.
