My buddy and I are currently studying electrical engineering at Western Michigan University. In our spare time we like to do electrical projects. We have decided to step into the realm of RC. Our budget is limited, but as students we can sometimes get the university to help out. Does any have possible ideas for a new development in the RC world?

Electrical ?, if you include electronics, then the - RCGroups DIY Electronics forum - would be a good place to look.

There is also the - RCGroups UAV - Unmanned Aerial Vehicles forum - where a lot of stabilization modules, GPS tracking, etc.

And the - RCGroups Aerial Photography forum - also uses stabilized camera mounts, etc.

One more, the - RCGroups Video Piloting (FPV/RPV) forum - again stabilization systems, camera mounts, etc.

Plus of course there is also plenty of RC car and RC boat forums here. But inless you are already involved in the hobby, you may struggle to understand some of the jargon used.

You really need to come up with something we don't have, and probably hadn't thought of, yet, to make it a worth while project, (financially).

How about an off the shelf discharger for 2-6S Lipos. Small investment and plenty of willing buyers.

That would be 2 ESCs in the one packet... Ill get my heatshrink...

You cannot run 2 motors from the one ESC as there is no way to make sure they are in perfect sync (without combining them into one motor). If the rotors are not in the same place then the commutation get all screwed up.

I am curious, has anyone tried using governed ESCs for twins? The sort (like YGE or the YEP knockoffs) that have the ability to calibrate them to a specific max RPM and then run at x% of that using the TC. I dont know if the throttle response is fast enough though?

That should get you to within a few 10s of RPM of perfect.

You know what I really want, a mAh sensor for spektrum telemetry. AFAIK the system supports one but they have not released the sensor yet.
