Hey guys, wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to using one of these (or even the 10 blade version) with the random parts I have lying around at present?

I've got a vampire in the way, and am just a little addicted to the wooooosh noise

I've got a stash of 4s 3300 30c blue turnigy packs, a spare HW 80a esc, and a het 2w-25 (2700kv). I know it won't be a speed demon (I've got a wemotec/2w-18 viper jet for that), but should it keep the vampire running at a scale speed/sound level?

Use the 12 blade.
It should end up adequate, and will have good 'whoosh'.

I agree, I think the 12 blade will be better for the 2700. Don't know about the battery, I use a 2650 4s in mine so not sure if the 3300 might be too heavy?

I use 4000 5S's even.... it flies fine even with a lot of weight. (1.6Kg area AUW).
So even though 4S 2700kv CS12-70 will be under my power level, it would have similar, or better, power to weight anyway - even with the 4S 3300 30C.
I have one of those batteries (For 4S prop use)... and even weighed it a week ago (also others), but I forget what it was! 380g area I think. It was very close to my 5S 3000mAh 20C weights - which are my main Vampire batteries.

I use a 4000mah batt in mine and it cg's fine...actually have a lot of room to go further forward. This is with and rclander fan/motor though so it has more weight than the stock fan/motor.

Cool, I like the sound of that! I'm at a stage now where I'm trying to base chooses for new planes/power systems around my existing packs. That being 3s 1300, 3s 2200 or 4s 3300. I have so many of them, if I can sneak a $300ish plane under the wife's radar and not have to spend another $200 on a few batteries specific to one model I stand a good chance of my balls remaining attached to my torso! lol

I'm looking at putting together a pair of these 12b fans into my Projet A-10 and I am in the market for some new motors to fit it. I would like to run them on 4s packs with the option for the occasional 5s. If the numbers for the 12b is very similar to that of the 10b fans then I would imagine a motor with kv somewhere in 2800-3000 range would be ideal. But what about the Arc 28-58-1 at 3180kv? Perhaps a little too much rpm? Any suggestions for a better sized motor of that similar quality?

Whalleyboy your Arc would be great for that fan on 4S I would think . I 'm thinking of using my Het 1w-40 with the 12 blade on 4s or maybe even 5 and that's even higher KV than your ARC (3300 ) The 12 blade seems to be a lot tougher than the 10 blade , especially the housing

3300kv on 5S... yikes....
48K RPM area..... the 12bl MIGHT cope with that.
2550kv is already well into 60's amps.... 2300kv around 50 area or so....
3300kv.......????? 80....90....100???

Not likely to be viable.
It is already pretty high power on 4S.

Agreed. 3300kv on 4S is basically max effort at around 80amps

Is anyone running this 12 blade on 6S? Not looking for crazy performance, just something in the 50-60A range so that it can be used in a twin on one 6S battery. I'm testing the L2855-2100 outrunner but having issues with vibration as the motor isn't running smooth (even without the fan). I bought the XK2845-B-2000 but it doesn't look suitable with its small shaft and tiny wires. It is also resisting being taken apart to add cooling holes. I think it has a fair bit of locktite on the end cap treads.
Thanks for your input.
Eric

What would be the best set up for this fan for light weight in my Jet Provost. AUW only around 1KG. Not looking for massive performance numbers or long flight times .

Ran the 12 blade on a tired 6s with the 2855 2100kv outrunner. Initial amp draw was around 62a. This is too high for my application so I tried the 10 blade in the same shroud and got 58a. The 12 blade has more load than the 10.
At 62a the outrunner got hot pretty quickly and I doubt it would last at wot very long.
I am thinking the 2100 may be better suited for 5s.
anyone else running the 2855 2100?

My L2855-2300kv tests on 5S gave as good as identical results on the CS10/12
That is the only comparison test I have done.

I have a CS10 L2855-2100kv in my BAE Hawk
Bench test 44A 788W 1.36Kg Thrust on a 5S 4000mAH 30C
I am sure it would do some amount bit better on a Nano etc.
(Twin 30C gave 46A 864W 1.41Kg thrust)

Don't know if this link works:
