It's like the took the cad data for the 90mm and shrunk it, well worth the extra dollar over the 10blade and the 2usd for the metal caps.

I've heard more tip whine at lower RPMs but that's OK for me cause now I'll put it in more planes seeing I'll be able to hear it now
What RPM are you running it at where you are getting the tip whine? I haven't run mine yet, but with the different blade angle, I had assumed that the RPM of the 12 blade should be similar to the 10 blade.

I did some back to back tests today on the 10 and 12 blades.

The sound is better on the 12blade as you can see in the videos.

Also the amps/watts are really close, so what maters here is thrust... I dont have any thrust numbers yet but I will maiden my Vampire with the 12blade fan later today and see how it sounds in the air.

Enjoy

The RPMs are similar

, I haven't really compared the two side by side like the previous poster has done either so the sound of tip whine at low RPM is subjective

Great man! I think these things would ROCK on a 3300kv inrunner of we could keep the draw under 80 amps.

My 10 blade pulls 68A on a 3300kv Cyclone.

Is that a 4s or 5s setup?

A10 thanks for the tests and videos, but I think you should have been using a lip on the shroud. Were you using metal shrouds in the test?

I've been watching this thread as this is my first EDF
Do you have to press the arbor through the fan
It seems like a press fit or should I make it a slip fit and glue it in place.
Please be gentle this is my first time.

Looks like the amps shoot up QUICK with even a little kv : /

I hope the thrust numbers do it justice

Thrust test should be done with lip for accuracy...

regards

What alloy housing fit the 12-blade?
The videos don't show the first fan... maybe it was a stock plastic housing?
They sounded the same to me, but if there is a bit of difference there would be if they were in different housing types too.
You have to use a lip to get true numbers. Seeing the numbers were close that means both had no lips.... but the stock plastic housing would have a different 'edge' than alloy, so one would flow that bit differently. Tests need to be in the same housing type, which in this case pretty well means both in their stock housing.... or both in the same brands alloy housing. eg a CyclonePower will be different to an ExtremeRC... not a lot, but a bit.... due to a very likely inlet lip difference (CP have their own, ERC would use the stock lip). But anyway you want a lip.. and the same lip for both test setups too. (or at least what they gave you with the stock fan itself).

Seeing the bits are not interchangeable... or rather, you just get whatever comes with each version, most people will only have those bits (that came with that fan - CS10 or CS12), so a comparison of most use for the masses is just using the stock fan of each type, just as they come.

Both test were done in the same exreme alloy housing from mark. They were the same no lip and 2650 4s lipo 45c. The 12blade fan fits tight but if balances perfectly like i did. It dosent rub.

Well i flew the vampire with the 12 blade fan and all i can say is. The sound is the best I have herd from all the high blade fans.

Also the sound was louder than the 10 blade fan. Normaly a perfectly balanced cs10 is to quite at a distance. With the 12 blade fan on the vampire the woosh sound is herd all the time. But take in considerarion I never flew the vampire on a cs10. Only other planes, and the vampire is a whooshy airframe. So that might have to do with some of the whoosh.
