Who said the A-10 won't fly stock?
Well ok it IS a bit anaemic but I can definitely say it flies.
Had 3 sorties this afternoon all very nice flights...a few rolls..........one decent loop.........and 3 perfect belly landings on grass.
Am very impressed how well she flies out of my hand at launch (into the wind of course).
I'm using 2S2P Etec lipolys (7.4V) with the stock EFD50 fans.
I have a few 3 cell (11.1V) etecs but I better not go there eh?
I can't take credit for the paint job as I bought the plane 2nd hand from a friend.
I also have an ACE Simple Extra 330 that I've rebuilt and flew today. Was an excellent flight for the 5 minutes that the motor lasted.
To be expected though I suppose with 3S1P etecs and EPS300C-C GWS motor g/b :-)
But my favourite plane of all at the moment is my Crazy Sparrow, powered again by a GWS EPS300c-c 10x8 prop 3S1P 1200 etecs.
So far I haven't burnt the motor out (touch wood) although Ive only had a few flights on it...............
I know I should consider brushless. ANy suggestions as to what brushless available in Australia would suit these sp300-400 planes I fly?
Regards to you all and thanks for reading.

the axi mini 12/15/16 brushless is a perfect motor for those type of models.
I have one in a EPS300 gearbox - man what a difference it made.

I was wondering if you had anymore specs on the extra 230. I was wondering what your AUW is, and are you flying it 4 channels or 3 channels?

The Extra is an Ace simple series kit that I bought ages ago.
I skinned the foam wings with 1 mm balsa and flew it for a while with a permax450 motor and some enormous nicad packs a friend loaned me.
It used to fly real well with that setup but was too fast for me to really enjoy the flights much and only lasted 3 minutes max :-(
Anyway I've just pulled the big motor out and am trying the GWS eps300c-c with my lithium packs. Time will tell if I can get it to fly a bit slower but still with authority.
Anyway as to your question the AUW is about 400-450gm (~16oz) depending on battery pack.
I am only flying it 3 channel, only because I have the Crazy Sparrow 4 channel and don't have any spare servos.
It flew really well for me until the gws motor failed and I'm sure that was my fault re voltage and I'm considering Trikky's advice as to the brushless AXI motor.
It's a big step up for me to go brushless, but I do have 3 or 4 planes that will all be able to use that size motor so I guess with the lipoly packs I have and a brushless I'll be able to stop blaming the equipment for my flight mishaps :-))

Great to see another Aussie parkflyer... I really need to get this social group 'going' so that we can all be in together - one big happy family *cough cough*.
Nice planes, good to see that the A10 can actually fly, though I see you've used Li-Poly rather than MH or Cd.

I never could get my A-10 to do much more then hold altitude even with a 8.4v lipoly. I had gear on mine however and I can see how that might have put it over the edge.
I did manage to get it to fly though. I can proudly say a 12V lipoly will make those little EDF-50's scream. For a few minutes at least.
Just out of curiousity is that a stock origional A-10 with the EDF-50's or the new one with the EDF-55's?

yeah Qaz the A-10 is stock standard with edf50's.
I purchased it from a friend who built and painted it..........but yeah totally stock.
