I get up Weldon in 2WD, but it is a bit sketchy spots. Rear drive with LSD, tires with tall sidewalls, good tread, 2nd gear, V8. It takes its toll on ball joints. If its raining the traction is excellent and you can go up slow in 2wd.

Can't you just rent a subaru?

Bruce Tebow, Alan Cocconi and myself are always ready to head up to Weldon, along with some of the big dogs. Hit us up a little closer to your arrival date and will get something going cousin.

We have a few similar crowds in Australia one I used got us four Long wheel based Landcruisers, full length roof racks and dual batteries for a 4000km trip I was arranging. These guys specialize in short term leases for mining and film companies.

I Just got on and started reading and thought in my head "Ah Hah" To help yah guys and make things simple and easy I think I got a place for ya guys.

How bout a headquarters camp in Palmdale 20 minutes from Parker, 10 mins from Vincent Hill and 2 hours from Weldon.

Just let me know, I'll hook you guys up, and if more people are holding back because of funds or lodging now you can come! 3,000sq 2 strory clean brand new house. I can make a couple bedrooms available for you guys, + theres the living room and family room for more sleeping room. 15 can maybe snuggle up in here should be no problem! No beds but sleeping bags and blow up air mattresses should work?

All I ask for payment is to let me fly your foam planes! lol

The location seems perfect, no problem driving 2hrs to Weldon, we wake up early
I'm coming with some mouldies I bet you will like , also some foam planks for furballing times, Joe M has my D60 RTF for when the winds start to howl

I found some rentals that offer 4x4 SUV's as well, the main issue here is that they can't garantee they'll have that specific car available when we arrive, so, I think the better way would be not make any reservation, once we arrive I'll check the options locally...

Joe's offer sounds like a great solution. You can make that a base and get a motel or rental in Kernville for a night or 2 if the wind is really good.
Looks like you guys will miss the Kernville River Fest so lodging shouldn't be too hard to find.

That's a good idea, I'm pretty sure we'll end it up sleeping some days in Kernville as well. HEy, that fest seems nice hehe, but it would make hard to find a place to stay, or making it expensive. One month to go and things start to happen, take the dust out off your models guys and let's making some noise flying in circles
